When you buy a headset from Creative, you're buying a versatile device. Creative Draco HS880 is an interesting device that has an unusual appearance, ergonomic design pleasant sound. It can be used both as a gaming headset and as stylish music headphones by turning off the detachable microphone.

Having got acquainted with the gaming headset, we did not miss the opportunity to look at another new product - Creative Draco HS880, which also appeared in 2015 and is the successor to Draco headsets HS-850.

Packaging and equipment

The design of the Creative Draco HS880 gaming headset is original - on the front side we are greeted by a dragon's head, and from its sides you can see the headset itself under a transparent box.

The back of the box reveals in several languages the details (use of quality neodymium drivers, detachable microphone, swiveling ear tips for easy storage) and features.

The key elements stand out on the sides as well – the large “EXTREME BASS” inscription is striking, which does not require translation, and the headset has a headphone volume control with the ability to mute the microphone, a long 2.5 meter cable and a weight of 268 grams.

Inside the box, we found only a removable microphone with a flexible boom, but this is not a complete set - when buying a new headset, the box should still have instructions and a travel case.

Appearance

The striking design of the box definitely caught our eye, and the Creative Draco HS880 gaming headset also stands out, but with a less flashy appearance. Due to the dark red and black glossy elements of the headphones, their turning mechanism looks stylish, and the lack of a removable microphone allows us to say that we have ordinary headphones. In terms of size, it is relatively small, as is the weight of 268 grams.

The design of the gaming headset is classic using glossy and matte plastics.

You can rotate the headphones only in one direction by 90 degrees, which is enough to “fold” it and reduce the height, putting it in a travel case. The swivel mechanism itself is made moderately rigid / tight, which allows you to fix them in the desired position, and thus the headset will not “walk” on your head.

Unlike the gaming headset, on the outside of the Creative Draco HS880 headband we will not see the name of the manufacturer, but most importantly, the rigidity is provided by a metal core.

The manufacturer did not make the soft part on the inside of the headband too large, but it is made of leatherette.

Headband height is adjustable.

A small “move” of the bowls themselves is also possible.

The outer profile of the bowls has a protruding glossy oval rim, which will be problematic to clean, as dust is attracted very well.

Large ear cups and soft leatherette ear cushions are ample height.

The detachable microphone plugs into the left earpiece of the Creative Draco HS880 and is almost imperceptibly detachable.

Under the foam is the head of the microphone.

The headset cable is quite long - 2.5 meters. At the end there are two 3.5 mm gold-plated mini-jack plugs.

On the cable is a volume control and microphone mute. It can be attached to clothes with a clip.

Ergonomics

The Creative Draco HS880 gaming headset has excellent ergonomics - various levels of adjustment contribute to this, relatively large ear cups with soft leatherette ear cushions that completely cover the ears and increase listening comfort (reducing external noise), as well as a remote control that can be clipped to clothes, and he will always be "at hand". So we did not find any problems with “adjusting” to the shape of the head.

Discomfort arose due to the long cable (2.5 meters), which, with frequent use of the headset, will have to be straightened, as it periodically twists and is still somewhat heavy.
