Of course OS. I don't think it's a secret for a long time this system doesn't lie. And it has a lot of goodies. But a phone review. Let's start with the battery, given the size of the screen, it holds a charge for quite a long time. Not bad camera. liked appearance. The metal frame is pleasant on the probe. The screen is not the most top-end, but gives a clear picture. By the way, you can see everything in the sun. I use it without a case, micro scratches appear on the screen, but it’s quite hard to see them, and this is a very big plus. The sound quality during a call and on the external speaker is excellent. By the way, the body is quite thin.

Design, aluminum + glass (not counting the back cover) give a pleasant tactile sensation. Screen, color reproduction and viewing angles, in a word, IPS-matrix. Camera (they took the same photos with S4, on lumia the picture was less "noisy", although S4 has 13 MP). Turns on on a locked phone - convenient. It does not cause a pathological desire to restart it, unlike the previous S3, with which I did this several times a day. Battery. Even with a constant connection to Wi-Fi and frequent “surfing”, the charge lasts more than a day (I charged my old S3 much more often). All this assuming a 2G network, low brightness, Glance screen (splash screen) is disabled, the location is not working and no auto-syncs. Smooth interface, software optimization, convenient desktop, "live" tiles (icons).

Design, screen, LTE, comfortable enough. Batteries are enough for a day. Shooting key.

WP 8.1 The processor is average, but the work is just wonderful, fast and smooth Battery, lasts for a day of active use, 2 days on average Excellent camera, performs well in low light conditions, competent post-processing Flagship design like 930 Bright, clear screen , performs well in the sun

good phone, the Austrian Post has abandoned iPhones in favor of Windows backgrounds.

The design is class, the screen is pleasant, the camera is beyond praise. simple, convenient to use more than android, maps are as always on top, though satellite in medium and small cities does not show ice, unlike maps on 5230, everything is nishtyak without a single update, the phone is super in vain, all my friends scolded vinduosphones, I proved that it is better than any of theirs phones, speaker bomb battery after fully charging the active Internet and watching video online withstood 6 hours 22 minutes of open pages and including updating all programs.

    2 years ago 0

I was pleasantly surprised by the complete transfer of all settings, including the location of tiles on the desktop

Custom operating system design Cool voice assistant Long battery life Built-in Yandex, Skype, Vkontakte and many other applications Quick synchronization of accounts The system works smartly, playing games is a pleasure

    2 years ago 0

Well, maybe the camera. Photos like the fifth apple. I just expected it to be better. Dislikes twilight. But here the operating system wins, in terms of photo processing (yes, that same famous lumia camera).

The glass moves away (peeled off) from the case. This deficiency has already manifested itself to varying degrees in many, apparently, the disease of this model. See when buying.
Weak vibration alert (and only on/off).
    Price.

Assembly - everything is fine, metal, plastic, it seems that there is no backlash, however, the plastic ring from the minijack connector suddenly disappeared somewhere. It turned out that there was a recess of 1.5 millimeters, how did it stay there? What was the meaning of it? You might as well not put it on at all.
Games sometimes blunt, a kind of brake, and then it goes on, as if nothing had happened. NFC works strangely, it only accepts data in a vertical position. ClearScreen eats the battery, it's a pity that it's not Amoled, turn it off unambiguously. When talking, sometimes the screen does not extinguish (proximity sensor - what is he doing at this moment?). The camera is both a plus and a minus: sometimes the pictures are pleasing, and sometimes grainy, blurry, as you're lucky.

Quiet sound in the headphones and through the external speaker, dangling tongue, side metal inserts are quickly erased, the back cover seems very fragile, it seems that when you take it off, you can break it, there are no headphones in the kit, the price is too high for such characteristics.

    2 years ago 0

Slight inversion of colors when tilted, but not critical

    2 years ago 0

The price is high, but I took it with wireless charging.

the alarm clock is terribly quiet, figs wake up. For three days I couldn’t figure out how to put my favorite song on a call, but when I connected it to my computer, I realized that I had to drop the desired melody into the ringtones folder, the updates take a long time to load, and I remember that they don’t need ads in games specifically. the price is a bit high for a long time I doubted if at least for 12000 13000 they sold, I would not even think I would immediately take

    Two joints.
    1. I listen to the radio. I turn off my headset. The radio continues to broadcast through the phone's speaker.
    2. Problem with video playback: videos are indexed randomly. None of the videos match the thumbnail.

Weak iron. Although for this operating system it is enough. The bulge of the screen does not allow sticking protective glass. Small number of applications in the store.

Inconvenient to use with one hand
    Multitasking not implemented
    Can't find silent mode
    Didn't like the plastic cover

Nokia Lumia 830 - Review of a Windows smartphone or I. Just. I want. My. Softs!

24.12.2014

Thanks to the N-Store online store for providing a smartphone for testing. Today, i.e. on the day of publication this review, i.e. December 24, 2014, Nokia Lumia 830 in the N-Store can be bought for 16990 rubles.

Lyrical introduction

What do the Sailfish operating system (Jolla smartphone) and the BlackBerry operating system have in common? And here and there you can run Android applications. There, on Jolla, who recently came to me, it was completely officially initially installed by the Yandex application store. And the craftsmen there, they say, even Google services screw ...

Why is Blackberry and Jolla necessary? Duc, after all, the lion's share of people have long been sitting on their Android. And got some set of favorite applications. Browser, reader, twitter client, mail program, music player, maps (playing and navigation), a dozen toys and wallpapers with cats. And even if you manage to lure such an android person into an unfamiliar habitat (that is, to another operating system), he really begins to break down due to the fact that he was deprived of his familiar softs.

But, perhaps, there is something better in the new and not as popular as Android operating system, which will allow you to read books and listen to music with no less success? First, most likely not. Developers are in no hurry to rewrite their softs for not very popular operating systems. Secondly, the search for suitable softballs is a slow and tedious process.

And so - I took it, put the usual android set on an unfamiliar OS - and then you can safely get used to the new area. If you find a windows-endemic, which you put Cool Reader or Plume on your shoulder blades, you will crawl onto it. If you don't find it, that's fine.

I haven't tested Windows smartphones for a very long time. Everything is android, yes android ... And then I moved to Lumia 830 and discovered with curiosity that the Windows operating system in its mobile version does not annoy me. Almost. Yes, in places it is unusual and, perhaps, even clumsy. But you can call, run applications - too. And it's real - well Windows phone- it's like another android shell. Better or worse than others, it doesn't matter. After the hundredth change of the apparatus, such trifles no longer bother. You get used to everything. But there is no usual software.

And what do you get? A smartphone is, after all, hardware, appearance, operating system and third-party software. The hardware of all smartphones in the world is plus or minus the same. Appearance is also what you want to do. And if the operating system from Microsoft suits me more or less, then it turns out that the absence of programs that have already become native is the only thing that spoils all the raspberries.

I don't care what operating system I use to run Yandex.Maps on my smartphone. Or call your parents. Or watch a video - after you have launched your cartoon, you don't care which video player shows it. But the lack of a familiar browser, a twitter client and a book reader is very annoying. Hey folks, is there a decent twitter client for Windows Phone? "Mother-mother-mother," echoes habitually. It was, but it all came out. Chew the official twitter and don't show off. Reader? There are enough readers, you can live ... But every time you start what seems to be the best of Windows readers, you curse and remember Cool Reader with longing.

Why can't you make it possible to run android applications? Is it to recognize its secondary nature? The right guys can’t do this, pride doesn’t allow it? Not Newton's binomial, after all, obviously - since Blackberry and Jolla could, probably, Microsoft would have succeeded too. But no, they don't.

Video camera can shoot, of course, in FullHD. The quality is also very decent.

And here front-camera unpretentious, 0.9 MP. Not for selfie fans.

Everyone wants a Nokia on Android. Dreams become reality with the Nokia N1 tablet, but the hero of today's review, Lumia 830, has nothing to do with it. It's still the same device on Windows Phone. And how are the manufacturers not yet tired of proving that there is enough software for WP in the market? Obviously, this is not so, but the device itself attracts attention. Without remorse, we can say that the 830th definitely pleases the eye.

Design and ergonomics

The Lumia 830 brings together the best of all Nokia's designs in recent years - a solid aluminum base, branded polycarbonate and only a slightly protruding camera. On the frame - 4 plastic serifs to ensure work wireless communication. The main controls are also located on the frame, namely: the charging and headset connectors are on the top, the volume, power and camera buttons are on the right (the latter walks a little in its place due to the two-position function, for the same reason it is periodically pressed by accident).

At first glance, it seems that the front and rear panels are glued onto an aluminum base. And this is alarming, but, looking closely, you understand that everything is done in good faith - there are no complaints about the assembly. Front - front camera, earpiece, 3 control touch keys and, by a strange coincidence, a microphone.

A little bit of old school does not hurt these days, the Finns decided. Back cover It is made of proprietary matte polycarbonate from Nokia and closes with a sufficient number of latches so that it does not cause any complaints. The cover covers the noise canceling microphone, flash, main camera and speaker. If you take it off, reverse side you can see the NFC chip and wireless charging, and on the smartphone there is a slot for SIM and MicroSD cards. The device is available in four colors: orange, green, white and black.

Display

The 5-inch display is made using IPS technology. Unfortunately, it's been noticeably downgraded from the flagship's FullHD OLED screen. Gorilla Glass did not go anywhere. The display resolution is 1280 x 720 pixels and the pixel density is 294 ppi. But despite the simplification, I like how everything looks on this display. In the system, due to its specific architecture in the design, the reduced number of pixels is not striking. Display supports unlock double tap and work with gloves. It's nice that the glare on it is not very visible, and the color settings can be changed manually. There is a slight inversion of colors when deflected, it will not be noticeable during use. I liked Nokia Glance aka Moto style technology. With its help, the smartphone displays notifications on the screen on minimum brightness– You don't need to unlock your phone to see them. On an IPS display, this is still convenient, but not as spectacular as on an OLED.

Camera

The camera is one of strengths Lumia 830. The smartphone has a 10-megapixel module with an optical stabilization system and optics from ZEISS. Looking at the specifications (matrix size is 1/3.4”, f 2.2), you can easily see that the 830 model loses to its brothers in the lineup, but despite this, the optics show excellent results. The point here, most likely, is in improved shooting algorithms. According to the company, the device uses the thinnest optical stabilization. Despite the lower output resolution, details and colors are much better than the same 930 model.

The Lumia Camera application leaves a very pleasant impression: it has all the necessary functionality. The only thing is that I did not find an HDR shooting mode. But the front camera gave up - there is only 0.9 MP, and the selfies are not pleasing to the eye at all.

Sample photos and videos

Specifications and Software

The device runs on Windows Phone 8.1, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 400 quad-core chipset, operating at 1.2 GHz, is responsible for computing, Andreno 305 chip is responsible for graphics. The manufacturer provides only 1 GB of RAM and 16 - built-in, of which 14.5 GB is available to the user. But the new chip, although not the most powerful, supports cards microSD memory up to 128 GB. Although the characteristics are not outstanding, I did not encounter any problems in work - the animation is smooth, the entire functional set is worked out with a bang. Yes, and third-party applications that I managed to find worked perfectly. The battery of the device is 2200 mAh, which allows the smartphone to live for about a day in active mode and up to one and a half - in a sparing one. To make it clearer - about 10 hours of work in HD-video mode.

It is worth noting the good sound through the conversational and main speaker. True, in the latter, high frequencies are overwhelmed. And if you listen through headphones, no questions arise at all. It's cool that the smartphone supports the connection of 5.1 systems, as the novelty uses Dolby Surround 5.1 technology. However, Windows Phone still does not support Lossless formats, so connoisseurs are unlikely to be able to get the desired sound when using a smartphone paired with a cool audio system.

Positioning

The current flagship of the Windows Phone line is the Lumia 930, it has no direct competitors from other manufacturers, direct competitors here mean devices on the same platform. At the same time, this model is against all top devices - both on Android and individual iPhones. Sales of Lumia 930 from the first days were record low for Nokia and now Microsoft. This is a common situation for the Windows Phone platform, each subsequent flagship is sold noticeably worse than the previous ones. The paradox of the situation is that each platform has a certain credibility on the part of consumers, especially when the capabilities of the platform are unknown - people buy such devices for testing. The first generation of Windows Phone was unsuccessful, but aggressive marketing pushed sales, plus the fact that the Nokia loyal audience remained at a high level. Then followed the transition to Windows Phone 8, in fact, the exit new version platforms. This supported sales, then stagnation began, and by the time the Lumia 930 is released, we are already seeing a decline.

Therefore, the model number 830 at Microsoft already at the time of the announcement in September 2014 was slightly repositioned. This device was called an affordable flagship in Berlin, hinting that it offers similar features to the Lumia 930, but for less money. We see a similar approach with other manufacturers - usually these are models with the prefix Mini - HTC One, samsung galaxy S5 and so on. The problem is that in Android-smartphones, this positioning also means a big difference in cost - about a third less. For Microsoft, losing billions of dollars on Windows Phone, it is necessary to try to make money, so reducing the price to such levels is impossible - if the Lumia 930 costs 25,000 rubles, then the 830 comes out at 20,000 rubles. The difference is not as big as in the Android world, but the differences in functionality are de facto similar. You can, of course, remember that most Android flagships cost about 30,000 rubles at the start, and then it turns out that the 930th is cheaper, and the 830th is quite at the level of models with the Mini prefix. But taking into account the lower functionality, the lower demand for such devices on the market, we can say that the difference should remain at a comparable level.

The positioning of Windows Phone does not change in any way in terms of the 830th model, this is a small niche of platform fans who, for some reason, did not buy the 930th model, but want a device similar in appearance. In the mass market, the affordable flagship Lumia 830 has no chance, the company is well aware of this and therefore they are trying to use the few tools that they have. For example, Svyaznoy has a promotion where you can buy a Lumia 830 and return it if you don't like it (not earlier than one week, not later than two weeks). It's a desperate attempt to push consumers into choosing this device, an attempt to attract a new audience that doesn't need a Windows Phone. The promotion is interesting, but it is unlikely to affect sales in any way, the first data show that the 830 model turned out to be even less in demand than the 930 in the first weeks. This suggests that the affordable flagship turned out to be a very niche device, and this is perhaps its only serious plus.

Design, dimensions, controls

The appearance of this device is easy to confuse with the Lumia 930, the same metal frame, glass covering the screen, and a set of bright colors. Available colors are orange, green, white and black.

The metal frame of the case is always silver, in black it is painted over - this phone is completely black. In all other variants, the front panel is black, only the back of the case is different. It has a matte-colored plastic, I chose an orange device, it is bright and fits well with the summer mood. The matte coating quickly begins to rub and shine, small dirt also appears in the pockets, it leaves marks on the case. They are easy to erase - other devices with such plastic behaved similarly, there is nothing nightmarish or critical in this, the peculiarity of such a coating.

Unlike Lumia 930, in this device the case was made collapsible, back panel can be removed. This does not affect the build quality, structural strength and well proves that the fashion for monoblock solutions, which has gone since the iPhone, is not at all so good and necessary. It is a pity that Nokia decided to realize this so late.

The dimensions of the phone are 139.4x70.7x8.5 mm, weight - 150 grams (Lumia 930 - 137x71x9.8 mm, weight - 167 grams). In the hand, the device should be tried before buying, just like the Lumia 930 - someone likes it, someone thinks that the frame crashes into the hand - completely similar impressions.

Compared to Nokia Lumia 930

Compared to Samsung Galaxy S5

I like that the protective glass of the screen is rounded to the edges, that is, there are no frames here. Some, on the contrary, want a protruding frame so that you can put the phone face down on the table and it does not touch the surface. In this device, everything is exactly the opposite, it will glide perfectly on any surface, you need to put it on the back.

On the right side there is a paired volume rocker, an on/off button, and a camera key, for which I must say special thanks to Nokia. The microUSB connector is located on the upper end, there is also a 3.5 mm headset jack (it is not included in the kit, they save on this as well).

On the front panel there is a front camera, it can be used for video calls, right there - a proximity sensor, light. Below the screen are three traditional touch keys.

Inside the case is a slot for a nanoSIM card, as well as a memory card.

Display

If the Lumia 930 has a 5-inch Full HD screen, then they kept the diagonal, but lowered the resolution - 1280x720 pixels. The number of dots per inch is 296 (441 in the 930th), the screen itself is made using IPS technology, a polarizing layer has been added to it for better behavior in the sun (ClearBlack). The aspect ratio is 16:9, which is also typical. But this is not an AMOLED screen, as in the 930th model, a cheaper matrix, although from the point of view of the picture you will not see much difference.

The device has a proximity sensor, as well as a light sensor. Unfortunately, the brightness can only be adjusted in three positions (low, medium and high). Unlike all other smartphones and systems, there is a limitation of Windows Phone.

For an undemanding buyer, such a screen will come in handy. It's good, sure average level. Without special requests and opportunities.

Battery

The battery with a capacity of 2200 mAh (BV-L4A) is capable, according to the manufacturer, of providing up to 12.9 hours of talk time in 2G, 14.8 hours in 3G, as well as a standby time of up to 22 days. The maximum music playback time is up to 78 hours, video - up to 10 hours, on the network via 3G - up to 11 hours, via Wi-Fi - up to 14 hours.

With a slightly lower battery capacity than in the Lumia 930, most of the parameters have grown by 10-15 percent, this is due to the influence of a less voracious chipset. IN real life it is difficult to see this difference, the devices work for about the same time.

For example, two days of work with mail synchronization (a little mail every hour), minimal use of other functions - 15 minutes of calls, a dozen SMS are quite achievable.

Just with installed SIM card, in the absence of synchronization or any activity, the device consumes battery power at a rate of about 4.5 percent per hour. As you understand, when using the phone, this speed increases. If in Lumia 930 three days of work without activities were achievable, then here it is almost impossible.

With active use, the device will work for only one day, from morning to evening. If you need a device for calls and SMS, then this model will be quite good in terms of operating time, but not in terms of cost. The time to fully charge the battery is about 2 hours (with a standard charger from the kit). It is curious that most Lumia have similar characteristics in terms of battery life, apparently, the company is consciously achieving such results.

HD video playback time is about 7.5 hours, not too short, but clearly less than other flagships (Galaxy S5 plays the same file with similar settings for about 10.5 hours).

The device has built-in Qi wireless charging, with its help the phone will need to be charged much longer.

Memory, memory cards, hardware platform and performance

The amount of internal memory is 16 GB, of which about 9.23 GB is free for the user (3.6 GB is occupied by system applications and pre-installed content). Memory cards are supported up to 128 GB. In the OneDrive cloud service, the user receives 15 GB of space.

The amount of RAM is 1 GB (2 GB in Lumia 930), which is enough for most applications and games that exist for Windows Phone today.

Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset, a quad-core processor has a frequency of up to 1.2 GHz per core. In fact, it uses the same chipset as the more budget Lumia 630.

I have no complaints about how this device works - everything is at a good level, there are no brakes.

Fans of synthetic tests and virtual parrots can look at the results for this model below.

Communication options

Standard set of protocols - Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n / ac, NFC, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0 (no LE support) - full set standard profiles, WCDMA - 900/2100 MHz. As you can see, the device cannot boast of anything special or unusual.

Camera

The resolution is 10 megapixels, you cannot choose smaller photos, while the matrix is 1/3.4 inches, f 2.2. Formally, it should play the same Lumia 930, in practice, the photos come out more lively than in a real flagship, they are brighter, more saturated, the exposure is worked out in the dark and more details are visible.

Look at the photo comparison with Lumia 930.

Lumia 830 Lumia 930

All proprietary Nokia image manipulation utilities have been added to the phone - you take pictures in Nokia Camera, which has a familiar interface for other models.

There are also “animated photos”, when several pictures are taken and an animated picture is assembled from them, panorama mode, focus change (foreground and background), Nokia Stories (a sort of option for creating a photo diary). The built-in Creative Studio editor is quite advanced, but nothing worth a separate description.

Video recording is supported in FullHD format, frequency - 30 frames per second. Everything is quite simple, no additional features are provided.

For comparison, examples of videos from Nokia Lumia 930:

Software - Windows Phone 8.1

Another device on Windows Phone 8.1. Unfortunately, the set of changes compared to the 8th one is rather insignificant, they are cosmetic in nature and do not affect the perception of the platform globally. This is work on mistakes and shortcomings, which, moreover, is poorly done. For example, a drop-down curtain cannot be closed, as in Android, by tapping anywhere. It must be pulled by the disclosure icon - this is terribly inconvenient. Nowhere, except for Windows Phone, is it implemented so crookedly. System innovations are described in detail in Windows review Phone 8.1, I see no reason to repeat myself - everything is standard here.

This model one of the first with the proprietary Lumia Denim package, it added 4K video recording (not available due to camera limitations in the 830th model), the Nokia Camera application was slightly updated, it became possible to show the weather on the lock screen. You can combine tiles into daddies on the start screen! The alarm clock now has the ability to set the time for Snooze! And finally, for the US, they added the ability to launch the Cortana voice assistant from standby mode (it also does not work in the 830th!). To say that I am amazed is to underestimate the power of this update, which makes Nokia phones simply incomparable with respect to anything that exists in our universe. But seriously, it’s impossible to look at the speed of updating the platform without tears - a teaspoonful of functionality is added per hour, which is standard for almost all platforms without exception and appeared a long time ago.

From the point of view of multimedia this device is a good music player, it supports the following formats: MP4, AAC, MP3, M4A, WMA, 3G2, AMR, 3GP, ASF. It's a pity, but there is no talk of full support for all lossless formats, although it is implemented in other systems. Built-in FM-radio is traditional, it has no special features.

For video, the number of supported formats is also small: 3G2, 3GP, MP4, WMV, AVI, M4V, MOV. For some, this will be enough, but out of the box I would like to see a larger number.

Impression

From the point of view of the quality of sound transmission during a call, this is a standard solution from Nokia, not bad, but not good either - the usual one. It uses two microphones, the same as in the 930, but there were also two additional microphones for the camera, they are missing here. The quality of the speaker is slightly worse than in the 930th, where I didn’t like it, wheezing at maximum volume, did not have a large volume margin. Everything is a little worse here. The vibrating alert remained quiet, you are guaranteed to miss it. Perhaps, it is in this aspect that the latest Lumia upset, they could be recommended as touch phones for calls - but this part is poorly organized, and due to hardware limitations, savings on components.

Unfortunately, we have reached the point where Lumia begins to compete only with other Lumia - it is impossible to seriously compare these devices with other platforms. Microsoft has been able to build a very small, niche market in which its own products compete - other companies do not even try to compete with them due to the fact that the benefits are minimal - there are no consumers.

But if suddenly you really want to buy a device on Windows Phone, then you should not seriously consider the Lumia 830 - worse quality sound than in the 930th model, from the pluses only support for memory cards, but indecently small amount of available memory. The screen is simpler, but the latter, perhaps, you just won't notice. In a word, whatever one may say, but the affordable flagship turned out to be very budgetary, and is sold for a lot of money.

The cost of Lumia 830 is 20 thousand rubles, the price of Lumia 930 is 25 thousand rubles. If you have absolutely no strength and want to try Windows Phone, then you can buy Lumia 630 - spend 6,000 rubles on a model with average and non-competitive market characteristics, but you will understand what Windows Phone is.

As the owners of Lumia 920 note, they see no point in switching to the 830 model, since these are practically the same devices (I remind you that the 920 came out two years ago). They have the same screen resolution, the new device has a larger diagonal, the old one has 4.5 inches. The resolution of the cameras is comparable, the pictures are better on the Lumia 920. Of the real advantages - only support for memory cards in the 830th. I think that such a comparison describes the speed with which the Windows Phone platform is developing very well. The two-year-old device, which did not differ much in positioning, has almost the same characteristics as today's affordable flagship. At this time, Android devices have made the leap to completely different functionality and capabilities, but Microsoft, please don't talk about it.
