Mobile World Congress 2018 took place not long ago, where the company’s new flagship, the Galaxy S9, was presented. However, before users have time to study all the features of the new product, they are already eager to know everything about the future Samsung Galaxy S10. There are already a lot of rumors and all kinds of leaks appearing on the network, but we will try to find out what is true and what is fake.

First of all, you should pay attention to the rumor about solid-state batteries in future generation devices. According to technical parameters, such batteries have an increased energy capacity in smaller dimensions, and also do not overheat and do not explode, unlike conventional ones lithium-ion batteries. Despite all the colorful development, the introduction of such a battery in the Samsung C10 may slightly slow down the release date of the smartphone. According to the company, the developers have not yet fully studied all the nuances of the technology.

It is also known that the company intends to move away from the Galaxy S name in a different direction. On this moment, there are speculations that the new flagship will be called Galaxy X or some similar name. Obviously, this is due to the new design that the future smartphone will have.

Galaxy S10 release date

Traditionally, all Galaxy S devices will be presented at Mobile World Congress, which takes place in the first quarter. Accordingly, we should expect the future flagship no earlier than January-March next year.

Samsung Galaxy S10 will be officially launched on February 20, 2019.

DJ Koh, who is the head of the mobile division of the Korean company, said that most likely the name of the future “Galaxy” will be slightly changed. It is worth noting that the line itself will remain called Galaxy, but its one-letter name “S” will be replaced with something else.

Samsung has already made a similar decision in the case of the Galaxy A line of budget smartphones, when all the existing Core, Prime, Mini and other brothers were combined into one “A”. It seems that now it’s time to change the name of flagship smartphones. Let's hope that with the new name the smartphone will also get a new appearance.

Again, do not forget the possible delay in the official release of the Galaxy S10 due to the introduction and testing of a new type of battery. After all, the company certainly doesn’t want a repeat of the old incident with exploding batteries.

Specifications Samsung Galaxy S10

The exact characteristics of the Galaxy S10 are still unknown, however, there are already quite a lot of leaks and insights about the screen, processor, camera, random access memory and some features. We invite you to familiarize yourself with them.

  • Screen- 4K Ultra HD Super AMOLED
  • CPU- 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon of the latest generation at the time of launch of smartphone production (presumably Snapdragon 855).
  • Camera- main (18 megapixels), front (10 megapixels, dual with optical stabilization and phase detection autofocus).
  • RAM- 6 GB, memory type - LPDDR5.
  • Main memory- 64, 256 or 512 GB.
  • Battery- ~3800 mAh.
  • Networks- 2G/3G/4G/5G (600-700 MHz).

For now, that's all that is known. However, even this list is not accurate, so take everything with a grain of salt. But, having this list, it’s worth considering each item in detail, as well as some of the specifications of the future flagship.

Screen

The future smartphone will feature a 4K Ultra HD Super AMOLED display that will cover at least 93% the entire front panel of the device. In addition, Samsung continues to sow rumors about a flexible display patent, which will obviously be used in the Galaxy S10.

It's about that the new “Galaxy” may acquire a screen that will cover the front, one side and part of the back panel. The display itself will be made in a single form factor, which, according to the design idea, should “envelop” the smartphone. The corresponding photos are already on the Internet.

A similar idea has already been implemented in Meizu Pro 7, which has 2 displays. The second screen is designed to display notifications and the clock. Besides, rear display Meizu Pro 7 has found its application as a selfie mirror. However, the rear screen was separate and not integral with the front panel, but the developers' idea turned out to be very interesting. We hope that Samsung will be able to put the flexible display patent into practice, and the Samsung C10 will become a truly revolutionary and new device in every sense.

Processor, RAM, network

As befits all flagships, the future Samsung Galaxy S10 will have the highest specifications to satisfy all user needs. It is expected that the heart of the device will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 series, made according to 7nm process technology. Qualcomm may create this processor in collaboration with Samsung specialists.

The amount of RAM and user memory is still just a guess. Obviously, the user will be allocated about 256 GB to store applications, photos, videos and other multimedia data. Perhaps a version of the smartphone will be released with 512 GB of memory on board. It is not known exactly how much RAM the future Galaxy S10 will have. However, Samsung plans to use LPDDR5 chips, which are significantly superior to the current LPDDR4.

It is also known that the Samsung Galaxy S10 will definitely support 5G networks. This network allows data transfer with a maximum latency of 1 millisecond at speeds of 15 GB/sec. It is worth noting that in Russia MTS, Megafon, Beeline and Tele2 are actively working on the 5G network. A record has already been set in which the operation of a new generation network was tested - Huawei smartphone using 5G from Megafon reached a speed of 35 GB/sec.

Note that 4G reaches a maximum speed of 1 GB/sec with a latency of 10 milliseconds. Presumably, Russians will be able to enjoy the new speed no earlier than mid-2018.

Design

What will make the Samsung S10 stand out from the crowd? Chinese copies? That's right, a design that will exceed all critics' expectations. If Korean experts nevertheless call new smartphone Galaxy X, then it should clearly outperform its direct competitor, the iPhone X.

Considering that the future device will have a curved display, which was written about earlier, we can roughly imagine the new design. It should be a monolithic block with curved side frames like the Galaxy S9; the screen occupies almost the entire front panel - at least 93%; from the front, the display goes through one side frame to the rear panel; no buttons other than the power/lock key.

Battery

Samsung devices have no complaints when it comes to battery capacity. The battery charge is enough for a whole day of active use of the device - 4G, games, watching and shooting 4K video and long-term use of the device at maximum display brightness, which should significantly “exhaust” the smartphone.

However, recently Korean specialists have been actively working on a new, solid-state type of battery. This is evidenced by all kinds of reports, as well as news from Samsung. The developers' plans include introducing new batteries into their wearable gadgets, and then mass production of solid-state batteries for electric cars. As experts say, this will increase the charge capacity, while the dimensions of the battery will be quite compact.

For the future Galaxy S10, this is at least another couple of hours of work and minus a couple of centimeters in the thickness of the device. However, there is no exact data on this matter yet. Therefore, we can only hope for the success of the developers before the release of the smartphone.

Galaxy S10 Features

You certainly won’t be able to win top sales with just the design, screen and new processor. Therefore, the Samsung Galaxy S10 simply must have its own characteristics. Everyone knows that Samsung specialists have been working for a long time on introducing a fingerprint scanner into the device’s display. However, it has not yet been possible to achieve the desired result. According to critics, by the release of the Galaxy S10, Korean developers should finish work on an in-display fingerprint scanner.

In addition, we should also not forget that Samsung has not yet presented its analogue of the Face ID technology, which is popular with iPhone X users. The iris and face scanner, even in simultaneous tandem, does not provide the comfort of use that Apple provides . Comparing the security of Face ID and Samsung's face and iris scanner simply doesn't make sense - alas, the fruity winner is obvious.

Also, there is information that the Samsung C10 will hide speakers under its display - both conversational and stereo. This is evidenced by Samsung data, which talk about a new development by the company’s specialists. Judging by experts, with the right approach from developers, the result should have a “wow” effect. At the same time, the maximum volume of the device should not be affected. We hope that everything will be successful in the Korean laboratories.

Despite the demands of users to make the future flagship extremely frameless, the company still faces some difficulties even at the concept development stage. In particular, by abandoning the frames, the device risks being left without a place for the front camera. According to experts, to locate the selfie camera matrix, at least 3-5 millimeters must be allocated at the top of the device. Accordingly, the Galaxy S10 will not be so frameless. At least in the upper part for sure.

A solution to this problem could be a mechanical retractable front camera module. However, Korean experts cut it off at the concept stage, explaining that with such a module the risk of device breakdowns increases. In addition, introducing something mechanical into a new product while all over the world is increasingly abandoning it is absurd.

We saved the most interesting things for dessert. Perhaps the S10 will implement a revolutionary single-chip system that works in a single combination of processor, graphics module and neural network chip. Such a module will significantly speed up the operation of the entire system, as well as its overall performance and efficiency. The work of specialists on this technology is most closely followed by critics and tech bloggers.

Price of Samsung Galaxy S10 in Russia and the world

Taking into account all the development features, new components and production costs, the cost of the Samsung Galaxy S10 in Russia should start at 56,990 rubles. For other CIS countries, it may traditionally increase slightly due to local legal peculiarities. However, it is unlikely to be higher than $1,100 in equivalent.

Samsung Galaxy S10: specifications, release date, price, leaks, rumors, and latest news

According to the publication TrustedReviews, Samsung Galaxy 9 is one of best smartphones 2018, but the first really interesting rumors about the Galaxy S10 have already appeared. This publication contains all the known details about the Galaxy S10, including the release date and price.

Following the launch of the Galaxy Note 9 last fall, Samsung's next flagship smartphone will be the Galaxy S10, scheduled for release in 2019. It seems there is still a lot of time before the device hits the market, but rumors about the S10 are already spreading widely on the Internet.

Based on this information, we can assume that the Galaxy S10 will launch in early 2019. Another very high-tech foldable phone is expected to be released - the Galaxy X.

However, release dates will likely be different for the two devices. Thus, the Galaxy X will appear at CES 2019 in January, and the S10, presumably codenamed “Beyond”, will be launched at MobileWorldCongress 2019 in February.

You might think this sounds strange, and you wouldn't be wrong. Samsung has a strong presence at CES, but has recently used the event to showcase its latest TVs and home appliances. At the show, major phone presentations haven't happened for several years.

MWC is more suitable for the launch of phones, since it is a specialized mobile event. Samsung executives probably assumed they wouldn't launch both phones at the same time. Ultimately, we don't know much more thanks to the report, however, as before, Q1 2019 is a great time to launch the Galaxy S10.

Samsung Galaxy S10 News: Revealed Galaxy sizes S10 and S10 Plus

Before this, it was assumed that the Galaxy S10, and not the Note 9, would be the first Samsung device, which will receive a built-in fingerprint scanner. The report states that the smartphone will feature a 3D camera module co-created with Qualcomm, meaning the device could feature the same facial recognition technology as the iPhone X.

According to The Bell, the Galaxy S10 will have a 5.8-inch screen, while Galaxy screen S10 Plus will be 6.3 inches. This duo will be approximately the same size as the S9 and S9 Plus.

This also means that the S10 probably isn't the same thing as the Galaxy X. Instead, there's a good chance that Samsung will release the Galaxy X as a special 10th anniversary device alongside the S10 and S10 Plus just like Apple last year with iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus launched iPhone X.

Galaxy S10 specs: latest rumors

This all completely echoes what we heard about the Galaxy S10 earlier.

Until a recent report from South Korea The bulk of the S10 rumors were provided by Weibo and Twitter tipsterIceUniverse.

So, today we know that the Galaxy S10 will receive a completely innovative Infinity Display, which will present an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 93%, compared to 83.6% in the Galaxy S8 and S9. There are also hints that this can almost be considered confirmed information, given Samsung's history of introducing new models, we can expect the S10 to receive Samsung's next-gen Exynos chipset (EMEA), while in North America it will come with Snapdragon 855 SoC.

From another source it became known that the S10 will comply with the Universal Flash Storage (UFS) UFS 3.0 standard, which is two times faster than UFS 2.0 and 5G for mobile devices.

And finally, it's time to move on to the probable date Galaxy release S10 and S10 Plus.

Samsung Galaxy S10: release date and price

As is already known, the Galaxy S10 will not go on sale until 2019, and there is already quite a lot of evidence of this today.

As we have already said, it is expected that Galaxy presentation S10 will take place in the first quarter of next year.

As for the cost, the prices for the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus will probably be at a higher level.

Reports that the price for the Galaxy S9 will officially start from 839 euros, and for the S9 Plus from 947 euros. The cost of new models from Samsung in Russia is not yet known.

No similar materials

More recently hearts Samsung users froze at the sight of the new 2018 Galaxy S9. But before the owners had time to evaluate the functional features of the gadget, rumors about the future flagship Samsung Galaxy S10 began to leak onto the network. Among the main leaks: developers are ready to use a new type of battery, introduce Hi-tech and even change the name of the flagship. This information was shared by the head of the division of the South Korean corporation, DJ Koh.

Samsung fans have already noticed that new devices will be presented at Mobile World Congress. The exhibition of mobile industry achievements usually takes place in the first quarter of the year. That is why the estimated time of appearance of the new product can be considered the end of February 2019. Earlier dates look unrealistic due to the introduction of a new solid-state battery.

Smartphone characteristics

The exact characteristics of the new generation smartphone remain a mystery until the official appearance of the Galaxy S10 in public. However, something is already known:

  1. The new generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with a chip based on 7 nm technology and possible download speeds of up to 2 Gbps, compared to the S9's performance of 1.2 Gbps.
  2. The 4K Ultra HD Super AMOLED smartphone display can become flexible.
  3. The camera of the device will resemble the Galaxy S9 Plus with three lenses: an 18 MP main camera and a 10 MP dual front camera.
  4. RAM – 6 GB.
  5. The built-in memory capacity will be 64, 256 and 512 GB.
  6. The lithium-ion battery will be replaced with a 3800 mAh solid-state battery, which will increase battery life.
  7. 5G network support.

The list of specifications has been compiled based on all available information.

Taking into account complex and expensive developments, manufacturing costs, the cost of high-quality components, Galaxy price S10 in Russia will range from 58,500 to 62,000 rubles. Apparently, the cost will not exceed the psychological mark of $1000.

Photos appear online closer to the release of the Galaxy S10 appearance smartphone. These are rather fake pictures of unknown devices, since the company has not yet made any official statements. The main thing that all users are sure of is that the smartphone will become truly frameless. The screen will cover from 93 to 99% of the front part of the device.

Galaxy S10 news and rumors

Without waiting for the official release Galaxy smartphone S10, the corporation shares news about several patented technologies. The company's engineers were able to integrate the following into the Super AMOLED display:

  • front camera;
  • light and proximity sensors;
  • speaker.

Even the fingerprint scanner has been placed under the updated screen. After such news from the leaders of the mobile industry, it will be difficult to wait for the official release of the smartphone in the first quarter of 2019.

Or at least dream of doing so, the South Korean giant is preparing to strike back.

Yes, yes, the next generation of flagships, the Samsung Galaxy S10, will also have three versions, as has already been officially announced. In addition, there will be several new items that are not yet in the creations.

And although there is still quite a lot of time left before the official announcement, a lot is already known, and not only at the level of insiders.

We tried to collect and slightly systematize this information in order to understand what to expect from the new Galaxy.

Design, materials

Dong-Jin Koh, who heads the mobile division, clearly and unequivocally stated that the appearance of the new smartphone will be very different from its predecessors.

In fact, after the “twin brothers” S8 and S9, fans of the brand are clearly demanding something new. A photo of the new item was even leaked online, showing front-camera, located directly below the display.

That is, the gadget will have practically no frames. It is clear that such “leaks” quite often turn out to be fakes, but the trend is obvious, and the manufacturer has the corresponding patents.

The picture clearly shows a 2.5D effect, further enhancing the impression of framelessness.

For some time there have been rumors about a retractable camera, but this falls into the category of idle fantasies: Samsung will not, even for the sake of the absolute absence of frames, introduce a moving element into the design of the device.

More credible is the possibility of having a three-module main camera, and the sensors are located not in the shape of a trefoil, as in the latter, but in a horizontal row.

The fingerprint scanner will almost certainly be hidden under the surface of the display, so it most likely won't be on the back panel.

But, according to Bloomberg, in the budget version the finger scanner will be on the side panel. How they imagine it is difficult to see. According to their data, the “premium budget phone”, which clearly has something in common with the iPhone Xr, will receive a flat display.

There is information that Samsung is seriously considering abandoning the 3.5 mm audio jack.

Screen

There are no specifics on this aspect of the future new product yet, we only know that all three versions will differ in diagonal.

Presumably it will be the same with 4K resolution, occupying more than 93% of the surface of the front panel.

Cameras

We have already mentioned the rumors about the retractable selfie camera and their groundlessness. Much more interesting is the information about the three-module camera, which seems to be available even on the “budget” version.

The resolution of the main sensor is called 16 MP with variable, which has already been tested on the previous generation flagship.

In addition to it, there will be another 13-megapixel telephoto camera with a viewing angle of 45 degrees and a 12-megapixel one. According to some reports, all three modules could receive the variable, but this seems unlikely.

According to analysts' forecasts, up to 10% of smartphones will receive triple cameras next year; there is even evidence that one will be installed on the Samsung A-series.

So the question of its presence in premium-segment devices can be considered practically resolved.

Battery

According to unverified data, the new product will receive a new generation graphene battery.

Modern lithium-ion and lithium-polymer have become a huge step forward in every sense, compared to the already forgotten nickel-cadmium, but they are still far from ideal.

New technologies will make it possible to create a more compact battery, increase its capacity and finally say goodbye to the explosion hazard that made the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 one of the most shameful smartphones in the history of the industry.

It is not yet clear whether the developers will have time to bring the technology to the industrial stage, but insiders even name the battery capacity - 3190 mAh.

Hardware platform

Almost all experts are confident that the new product will receive a new chipset from Qualcomm, equipped with a modem with support.

Unfortunately, there is still practically no information about it; even the name itself is questionable. It is only known that more than a dozen vendors have announced their intention to release their devices based on it.

The new SoC will almost certainly be manufactured using a 7 nm process technology, which will provide greater efficiency and a certain increase in performance.

As for the version with Exynos 9820, which will be officially sold in Russia, it will receive an NPU neural engine and an improved graphics accelerator.

It is known that Samsung intends to use the latest version of LPDDR 5 RAM in the new generation. According to GF Securities, the line will have not even three, but four versions: 4, 6, 8 and 12 GB.

There are rumors regarding the volume of internal storage - according to them there will be two versions: 256 and 512 GB.

Software

There can be no discrepancies here - the device will work under Android control P, which is now known as Android 9.0 Pie and nothing else.

Unfortunately, one of the main problems due to which Samsung loses to Apple has still not been solved: the authorization by scanning the iris and face, which its devices use, is unconditionally inferior to Apple.

No information has yet appeared that a more successful version will be created.

release date

The beginning of 2019 should please Samsung fans: the long-awaited announcement of the foldable Galaxy X is expected in January, the appearance of which many have already stopped even believing in the market, and the “ten” should be officially presented to the public in February.

By this time, the passions around the new iPhones will have subsided and the company will be able to collect its portion of delight without interference... or disappointed sighs, as it turns out.

However, GF Securities still names March as the month of announcement.

Estimated price

According to the Slashgear resource, the cost of the new product will be: in the following way:
  • “budget” Galaxy S10R (Retro) - $750;
  • “basic” Galaxy S10 - $1,000;
  • “maximum” Galaxy S10 Max - $1,100.
However, the names reasonably raise doubts, especially since GF Securities offers his version:
  • Galaxy S10;
  • Galaxy S10 Plus;
  • Galaxy S10 X;
  • Galaxy S10 X 5G.
This reflects persistent rumors that not all models will receive support for 5G networks, but only the maximum one. This seems unlikely to us: Samsung is unlikely to take such a short-sighted step.

But in any case, the figures cited by insiders show a trend toward “inflation”: premium devices of any brand are becoming more and more expensive and have already exceeded the $1,000 level.

Finally

“Nine” caused serious disappointment among fans of the brand with minimal differences from the previous generation, especially compared to the sensational iPhone X.

It’s not in vain that Samsung analysts eat their rice, or whatever they eat, and they’ve probably drawn the appropriate conclusions. This means that the Samsung Galaxy S10 will feature all the possible and impossible new products that the company has.

We are sure: insiders don’t know even half of what is being prepared for us. Therefore, during the announcement, a lot of surprises await us all. But what you can be 300% sure of is that new smartphones will become much more expensive than their predecessors.

Samsung is partially trying to solve the problem with their availability in Russia by launching a leasing program, the participants of which will be able to receive devices “for rent”, each time a new model is released, exchanging their old device for it.

A kind of trade-in. , so its owners will be able to appreciate all the advantages of the “ten” without any special financial costs.
