What to do when you have a tablet. Android tablet won't turn on - what to do. In particular, this is what we are talking about

Modern gadgets have become an integral part of life. Like any technology, an Android device can fail. One of the most common types of failure is Android not loading beyond the logo. In most cases, the problem can be resolved without costly repairs. It all depends on the cause of the malfunction.

Attention. The article bears informational in nature and we are not responsible for your actions. Contact the service center for assistance.

Why does my tablet or smartphone turn on but not boot?

The reasons why the system does not boot may be the following:

  • Flashing error. This problem may arise if the technician, due to inexperience, installed firmware on a tablet or smartphone that does not correspond to its model. This can also happen if, while installing the OS on the tablet, the computer from which the firmware was installed suddenly turned off. To avoid this, you need to flash your phone from a laptop or PC connected to an uninterruptible power supply.
  • Device battery is low. This is a rare reason, usually typical only for certain models. Lenovo tablets. Usually in such cases the tablet simply vibrates and does not turn on. If the indicator or animation on the screen shows that the charge is in progress, but Android does not load, the problem is not in the battery.
  • Due to lack of memory. To download and operate the gadget, you need free place on internal memory. If it is completely full, the phone or tablet will take a very long time to boot, but the Launcher will never start.
  • Electronic part malfunction. Typically, mechanical damage or failure of device components lead to the device not starting at all. But it happens that the download simply does not go beyond the splash screen.

In any case, it’s worth trying, if not restoring the functionality of the gadget, then at least getting the contacts.

How to save data. To avoid losing contacts due to a breakdown of your Android device, save them in Google account, and not just to the internal memory of the device. In this case, a copy of the contacts will be stored in the Google Mail address book and can always be downloaded to new gadget. Other data can also be saved. For example, a calendar or a list of installed programs.

What to do if Android won't boot

When the gadget does not turn on with a memory card, try removing it. If it boots normally after this, the problem is a mismatch or faulty flash card. You will have to replace it with a new one or use the gadget without an additional memory card.

How to fix the situation if the cause of the breakdown is firmware failures?

Using Safe Mode

When loading Android you can try using safe mode. In this case, only standard applications. Sometimes this method helps to boot the OS and remove contacts.

After loading into Safe Mode, it is possible to optimize the application by removing unnecessary ones. This will help clear memory and remove conflicting third-party applications and skins.

Firmware via Recovery

You can restore the firmware using a PC or mode Android recovery. Recovery mode is intended for low-level work with the system. It allows you to save data by making it backup copy, flash the device, install programs integrated into Android (for example, Google Apps) and clean the system and reset all data.

If the task of getting contacts is not worth it, you can try first full reset system through the recovery console. In this case, all programs and data will be deleted, and the phone (tablet) will return to its “factory state”. If resetting does not help, you should try to “roll back” to a higher earlier version firmware. This is especially true if the malfunction appeared after a firmware update.

Logging into Recovery is performed differently on different gadgets. Usually, to do this, you need to hold down the power button together with the volume down or volume up key when turning it on. But sometimes you need to press something else, for example, the “Home” button. Therefore, you need to know the specifics of entering recovery mode for a specific device.

In the “recovery” menu, the touch display does not work, and switching between menu items and their selection is performed with the volume and power buttons. To reset to factory settings, you must select “Wipe Data Factory”.

After the reset, you can install new (or old) firmware by selecting “Install zip from SD card” and opening the corresponding file in the internal memory or SD card.

Firmware via PC

If Android does not boot when you turn it on, you can try to save the situation by installing new firmware using a PC. This is especially true if for some reason it is impossible to get into the Recovery device.

There are many firmware programs designed for different chipset models of Android devices. Therefore, you first need to study the device of the tablet (smartphone) and download the appropriate software. To avoid failures during the firmware, it is better to use a laptop. When the power is turned off, its battery charge will last until the end of the operation.

The firmware procedure depends on the software used. It can be found in the program documentation.

In addition to the application for flashing gadgets, there are programs that allow you to copy data from a switched off device. With their help you can pull out address book and save it on your PC.

Troubleshooting hardware problems

When malfunctions look like “the screen is blinking, Android is rebooting” or the device is not included in Recovery and is not recognized by the computer, the failure may not have software solution. In this case, repair or replacement of gadget components is necessary. If you know how to handle electronics, you can try to repair your tablet or phone yourself. Otherwise, it would be better to contact specialists from a workshop or service center. Paying for services will be cheaper than buying a new device.

Many users are faced with the problem that their tablet does not start. This phenomenon can manifest itself in different ways.

For example, sometimes the device turns on, but does not start, that is, all the signs of turning on are there (lights are on, some processes are happening), but nothing is displayed on the screen.

In other cases, loading occurs as usual, but the shortcuts are not visible - the loading screen freezes. Maybe the user sees the manufacturer's logo, but nothing further happens. But be that as it may, there are several ways of what to do in this situation.

1. Follow some simple steps

In most cases, no special action needs to be taken.

Instead, do this:

  • Place the tablet on charge. It happens that the tablet becomes completely discharged and cannot show a single image or even the manufacturer’s logo. So connect to your device Charger and wait at least 10 minutes, then try to turn it on again.
  • If charging is fine, just wait a while. In some cases, due to clogged memory, the tablet will take an extremely long time to load. Therefore, the best solution in this situation is to simply wait and then clear the memory a little.

There are times when trying to do something yourself does not make sense and it is better to trust the professionals.

In particular, this is what we are talking about:

  • Mechanical damage. Try to remember if you have dropped your tablet recently. For some models, even a slight throw into the bag will be considered a serious blow. As a result, the screen breaks and it will no longer be able to work. It is best to send the device in for repair and ask for a screen replacement.

Attention! Without special knowledge of the internal structure of tablets, you should not try to do this yourself.

  • The video adapter has completely failed. Again, in this situation, the only option will be to replace this element. Checking this option is quite simple - nothing will be displayed on the tablet at all, including the system menu, which we will talk about later. In this case, send the tablet for repair. Perhaps the masters will find some other problems in it.

2. Hard reset

There are many reasons why a tablet may not work. But we are talking about those cases when Android does not start on the tablet. That is, there is some kind of reaction when the device is turned on, but then nothing happens.

Most often this manifests itself in a “frozen” manufacturer’s logo or Android logo, as shown in Figure No. 1.

There can be many reasons for this phenomenon, but the most common of them are:

  • incorrect installed applications;
  • malfunctioning applications;
  • forced shutdown of system applications;
  • some applications close or affect others.

In this case, the only way out is to completely reset the device.

This is done as follows:

  • Turn off the tablet and, just in case, take out the SIM card and card MicroSD memory.
  • Press and hold the volume up button (on some models you need to press the down button) and the power button at the same time. On different models Entering the system menu can occur in different ways. If the above instructions do not help in your case (the same picture as shown in Figure No. 2 is not displayed), read the documents for your tablet. You can also go to the manufacturer’s official website and find all the necessary instructions there.
  • A system menu will appear, in which, using the same volume up and down buttons, go to the “wipe data / factory reset” item.

  • On some models, you need to go to “Settings”, then to “Format System” and finally click “Reset Android”. After this, the tablet will reboot and may begin to vibrate; in any case, the process of erasing all information and returning to its original state will begin.

It is worth saying that it is not always possible to do a full reset the first time, so if the tablet still does not boot after all the steps described above, do them again.

3. Non-standard situations

It happens that as a result of searching for the correct combination to enter the system menu, the user ends up in unexpected modes and sees non-standard pictures.

For example, you can see a picture of a lying robot with an open belly. In this case, press the power button again and wait until the tablet reboots.

You may also accidentally end up in Fastboot mode, as shown in Figure 4.

In this case, use the volume buttons to navigate to “Restart bootloader” and press the power button to select it. The tablet will reboot.

In this case, charge it for a couple of hours. Then, hold the off button for 15 seconds (or press reset). Wait about 15 minutes for the tablet body to cool down ( back cover may get warm when charging). Now try turning it on (3-5 seconds on button) and wait 2 minutes.

Please accept my condolences, because if you are reading this article, it means your Android tablet has stopped turning on. The reasons may be “hardware” or “software”. The first reason is the physical inability to turn on due to damage to the battery, board, cables. The second is that someone screwed up the operating system on the tablet, and due to the fact that it got up crookedly after, or some freshly installed program turned out to be extremely incompetent, the device cannot “start up”.

The tablet won't turn on at all

1. Remember the last time you charged your electronic friend. One of the most common reasons is a tablet. fully discharged. In this case, even if you put it on charge, it will take some time (sometimes up to 10 minutes) before the tablet has enough power to turn on. Sit next to the patient, and after a one-minute break, press the power button for a long time until the screen lights up. And yes, you must be sure that the charger is working. If there are no changes, check on another device to see if the charger is working, or change it. If you are interested, then you need another article.

2. Remember, maybe you gave a tablet to a child? Perhaps the baby slammed the screen as hard as he could into the corner of the crib and damaged the display. In this case, the tablet itself may work, but the screen will have to be replaced. The same situation occurs if the tablet lands from a height of one and a half meters on asphalt or a tiled floor. There is little you can do to help him on your own; you can only sympathize with the poor fellow. Typically, a damaged screen is indicated by visible mechanical defects, or the absence of an image when turned on (instead, only the backlight may be visible, and even then not always).

3. The tablet did not fall or hit, but there is no image? Unlikely, but still: perhaps the video adapter has failed.

If your tablet is still under warranty, then it’s stupid to fix it yourself. Take it to the service center and don’t worry. Of course, you can download the diagrams on the Internet and try to fix it yourself or give it to a friend, but it’s better not to do this.

The tablet only turns on halfway

It's all my fault software glitch, and only him. In such cases, we see the display backlight turn on, and then endless loading (ANDROID is constantly flashing), or we see an image with a broken green robot.

This may be a consequence:

1. Incorrectly installed or malfunctioning games, programs, launchers.

2. Forcefully terminated system processes, ensuring the stability of the operating system. This can easily happen if you “killed” the system process through some kind of task manager (or dispatcher), or third party program“battery saver”. Believe me, this happened to me once.

What can be done in such a situation?

There is a chance to “revive” the tablet by resetting its settings to factory settings. This is done using Hard Reset, and it is better to google how it is done specifically for your model. Especially if you have a tablet from a Chinese manufacturer. I highly recommend that you read the instructions for hard reset on various devices. I will briefly describe the general principle; most likely you will need to do the same:

  1. Turn off the tablet
  2. We take out the memory card and SIM card (just in case)
  3. Press and hold the volume down key ( and for some it is a decrease!) and the power button for about 10 seconds, the time is also not the same for all tablets.
  4. The tablet should vibrate
  5. A menu appears. Use the volume and power keys to select the item Settings. Further - Format System
  6. Choose Reset Android, tablet reboot
  7. All data and settings that were in the device’s memory will be erased and returned to the factory settings.
  8. Don't be alarmed if you don't succeed the first time, you usually succeed the second time :)

If this instruction didn’t help, try using the advice on a hard reset from commentator Dima in the article, you don’t have to look for the advice itself in the comments, I added it to the article. It also helps to bring the device back to life. And how to restore a tablet after unsuccessful firmware is written.

Just in case, English video instructions for a hard reset for a tablet Acer Iconia Tab A500:

If a lying Android appears with a red exclamation mark

In many, I noticed in the comments, everything ends like in the picture, or something like that:

This is a stock recovery mode (if you're wondering what that is), and there's nothing wrong with it and you shouldn't be afraid of it. Moreover, you can - ClockWorkMod Recovery. If you see it, it means it works - and that’s good. You got into it because you entered the wrong combination for a hard reset, and I warned you that it is not the same for all tablets. In this situation, you can press and hold the power button until the tablet turns off and try again, or just wait 5 minutes until it turns off and repeat the process. Try again, as a last resort you can just reflash.

Fastboot mode

Sometimes, when trying to find the right combination, users end up in Fastboot mode. In such a situation, we see the “Android” lying with an open belly/belly, but without exclamation point. An example of such a menu for Nexus 7 (2013) in the photo:

If you get here, then use the volume buttons to select the item Restart bootloader and press the power button to confirm your selection. Perhaps this will help you boot up a tablet that has not turned on before.

In general, it is useless to advise anything specific here, since each model has its own paddocks. For some tablet models, you just need to press the “Home” button if a lying Android with an open belly appears - and a menu will appear in which you can select to reset the settings. And for some, press volume up and down at the same time. And wait.

A black tablet screen that does not respond to the power button and charger can plunge you into despair. Modern devices are very sensitive to various influences. Today our site will help solve this problem.

Step by step repair

There can be many reasons for the malfunction. You can identify the one you need using a step-by-step examination. Perhaps one of the points will help you, otherwise you will have to contact the service center. But more on that below.

Step 1: Charger Damage

First of all, you need to carefully examine the charger for damage. Many tablets are very capricious in relation to it. Not only breakdowns and incorrect selection can affect equipment. You need to be especially careful when purchasing it from third-party manufacturers.

Remember if you have changed the charger in the near future. Perhaps it was dropped or wet. Inspect the cord and plug for external damage. Check the connection between the power supply and the outlet. Try to take someone else's charger, ideally one from the same manufacturer as your tablet. Or connect yours to another phone.

Step 2: Long enough charging

It also happens that it is enough to simply keep the tablet connected to the network for a longer time. The process will take two hours. As a last resort, leave it overnight. The need for this arises if you do not use the device for a long time.

After this, try to start the tablet again. If this does not help, if possible, remove the battery and later insert it back and try to turn it on. If this doesn't help, try turning it on forcibly.

Step 3: Alternative Method

If a complete discharge occurs, the controller prevents the tablet devices from further consuming current so as not to damage the battery. But at the same time, it not only does not lose energy, but also cannot replenish it.

Usually, the tablet turns off when the charge level is below 10-15%, but if you interfere or lower the threshold, a complete discharge occurs and the gadget no longer responds to the charger.

At the same time, there is alternative way. Press the start button for 20 seconds. If this does not help, hold it down and increase the volume at the same time. You may have to hold it for up to a minute. Didn't work - power and volume down button.

Step 4: Reset Button

It is not always available on new models. Then its function is performed by the previous method. Many users are not even aware of its existence. The reason is that it is specially placed in hard-to-reach places so as not to accidentally touch it.

You can find it almost anywhere on the tablet - on the side or back. Usually next to the microphone jack or the power button. Main feature are modest in size. Pressing can only be done using a needle or pencil tip.

Answers Reset for instant forced reboot apparatus. It can be a real salvation if the system suddenly freezes. With option Hard reset - return to factory settings (deleting all user data), it is not connected in any way. Of course, there is no need to abuse this function.

Step 5: Charge the battery separately

If your tablet has been sitting near the outlet for a day, but this has not helped, there is a more thorough method. You can only use it if you are confident in your abilities. You will need a power supply that can support a constant voltage of up to 12 volts. It is best to set it to five volts. You also need a resistor - a voltage-control device with a power of 0.5 watts. Having a voltmeter is not necessary, but is highly recommended.

  1. Clean the ends of the wires by 5 millimeters.
  2. The positive wire is usually red and the negative wire is blue. But they can also be checked with a voltmeter. The negative of the battery must be connected to the negative of the source, and the positive to the positive.
  3. We connect the charger to the voltage source.
  4. You need to turn it off when the voltage reaches 3.3V.
  5. Now you can connect it to the outlet via the connector. Make sure that the battery does not heat up.

There is another, much simpler method, but it does not work on all devices. You need to remove the battery from the tablet and connect the device to an outlet. Without disconnecting it, insert the battery back. Leave again for a day or at least half. Such a sudden influx of energy will give the necessary “push” to the battery.

Step 6: Specialized Service

If all of the above methods do not have an effect, the only option is to send the device for repair. The price can be completely different and vary depending on the nature of the damage. The easiest ones to fix are dirty contacts. In order to check this, you need to plug in the plug and move it. Perhaps the charging process will begin.

If you recently reflashed your phone yourself, this may also cause a breakdown. Device firmware is a very delicate thing and it is better to change it with the help of professionals. If this is the reason, flashing the tablet can help.

Viruses are becoming a serious problem. They can control applications without your knowledge - turn on Wi-Fi, microphone or camera. Incorrect charge tracking or inability to fully charge may occur. Only a professional can save you here.

Today we have given many ways to fix your tablet, but the most reliable way is to contact a service center. At the same time, you can be sure that you will not aggravate the situation and everything will be safe for you. That's all for today.

An unpleasant situation can happen to anyone when a dear tablet turns off and does not turn on. When this happened to my old Chinese man, who always limped on both legs, I wasn’t particularly surprised, but if it’s a cool branded asus nexus 7, sony xperia, fly, alcatel, irbis, dexp, 3q, at least prestige or digma - such a situation cannot but be annoying.

But it is always important not to get upset or lose your temper and to take the necessary steps to diagnose the problem and, to the best of your ability, correct it. So in this article we will look at the question of what to do if the tablet does not turn on.

First of all, we will try to determine what the first symptoms were and what preceded the occurrence of the problem.

What programs did you install before the crash happened? Perhaps the tablet stopped turning on immediately after installing a specific application? Or has it often happened that it takes a long time to load after an update? operating system? If Android has not been updated for a long time, nuances may also arise with this. Has it ever happened before that the tablet does not load beyond the logo?

In general, try to remember everything that happened the day before the incident. This will greatly help the diagnosis.

Most common reasons

The reasons for this particular problem can be varied. I will try to describe the most common ones, after which we will look at options for solving the problem. First of all, you need to structure the reasons, dividing them into two large groups:

  • hardware (this refers to the situation when the breakdown is in a piece of hardware. This option is worse);
  • software (if something is wrong with applications or the OS. This is also unpleasant, but not so bad. Often you can even fix it manually).

The "best" reason

It is possible that you simply did not charge the tablet and after complete discharge it does not work. More serious causes will be described below - software conflict and physical damage - so you really want this to be a simple discharge. Perhaps you used someone else's charger, which does not fit with your model, the tablet is discharged, cannot receive additional recharge and therefore does not start.

If in this case you are wondering how to turn on the tablet, simply connect it to the network or computer, replacing the USB with a native charger, wait 20-30 minutes and then press the Power button. Does not react? Go ahead.

Hardware failures

This concept refers to mechanical injuries and damage inside the housing. Diagnosing the first is much easier: if the tablet is dropped and does not turn on, you have a mechanical failure. Inspect it for:

  • cracks on the screen - they will be easy to notice;
  • cracks on the body;
  • the Volume and Power buttons are stuck, as well as the USB and headphone inputs are stuck;
  • When you turn it on, you can sometimes notice stripes on the matrix. This often happens when a video card burns out.

If you cannot remember the moment of injury to the device and you cannot find anything on the case, the problem may also be overheating of the components. There is no way to check this from the outside, and you will have to contact a service center for help (or a local technician if the service life has expired). Before you do this, try to eliminate all other possible sources of the problem with the tablet if it blinks and does not turn on.

Software conflicts

The second group of concerns are third-party applications. This is not as scary as burning iron inside, but it can also bring a lot of trouble. Various bad things can happen due to conflicts between different software if you install many programs on your device.

In addition, Android is also not a perfect system and problems may arise based on its updates that are not adapted to your specific device. This, of course, does not mean that you need to stop updating the OS; on the contrary, such actions are even more likely to lead you to problems with the tablet.

But if the tablet stopped turning on immediately after updating the system, then everything is clear. Go to the manufacturer's official website and look for a stable firmware version for your device. If this is beyond your capabilities, contact any technician.

It is easier to diagnose a software conflict if it occurs immediately after installing/updating specific software. Otherwise, we can only try to eliminate this possibility by performing the actions described below.

What we can do

It’s clear that you won’t be able to fix a burnt video card. But there are actions we can actually take to help our PDA. If the breakdown is a conflict with third-party software or a crashed system, you can even revive the tablet yourself, without contacting a service center.

If you drop your tablet and it stops functioning, you can try the steps described below, but this is unlikely to help and will save you from going to the service center.

First of all, charge it for 20-30 minutes. If the device is completely empty, then it will not function anyway, and all actions will have no effect.

Press the power key for 10-20 seconds. If the tablet turns on but does not boot, that is, it does not turn on completely, try to reboot: hold down the power button and look at the reaction. If nothing happens, or it doesn’t respond at all after pressing the key for 10 seconds, look for Reset on the case.

Usually this button is made sunk into the body to prevent accidental pressing, and you will only be able to poke it with something oblong (about the diameter of a needle. Unscrew the paperclip). If your device has one, poke and hold for a few seconds. Wait 10-20 seconds and try to turn it on.

If Reset is missing, you can try to remove the battery (only if this is provided by the manufacturer) or simultaneously hold down the key combination “On/Off”, “Volume Up”, “Home” (which returns to the desktop).

We wait 10-20 seconds and try again.

Switching to recovery mode - Recovery

Depending on the version of Android and the device model, a different key combination may be used to go to Recovery mode. Usually this is the first or second option, but there are exceptions, so try one at a time.

Legend: Home - returns to the desktop (main screen) as normal; Power - on/off/sleep button; Vol+ - increase the volume, often the top or right side of the Volume key (volume control); Vol- - volume down button, often the bottom or left side.

Combinations can be like this:

  1. Power, Vol+;
  2. Power, Vol-;
  3. Power, Vol-, Home;
  4. Power, Vol+, Home;
  5. Power, Vol+, Vol-

The system menu appears. We look for an item similar to “Wipe data”, select it (confirm the selection with the power key), then Yes. The main menu should load, look for the Reboot item and select it. We are waiting for the reboot.

After everything, the tablet should start. That's not all, just a little remains. Go to settings, item “Backup and reset”. We select, we discard.

Safe mode

If the device starts but does not function, you can try this. Hold Power until the shutdown menu appears. For Android 4.1 and above: Poke and hold the Power Off button. For androids 4.0 and below: while the manufacturer’s logo is turned on and displayed, hold down both volume buttons until the desktop appears.

In both cases, the Enter Safe Mode dialog box will appear. Click “Yes” or “OK”. We wait.

When the desired mode starts, system functioning should return to normal, all third-party applications will be unavailable. It is recommended to remove them all completely and, if possible, check Android for viruses.

If you still have unresolved problems and none of the methods helped, you should contact the service center. If you have a solution not described above, please describe the situation in the comments - you will greatly help many of our visitors.

Conclusion

I hope our tips helped you. Try the universal algorithm described above. See you on the pages of the site!
