Effective job search. Intensive course on job search Remote work in the IT field

When using the advice in this course, be careful.
And then, what the hell, you’ll have to work :-).

First of all, the course is intended for people who have a certain work experience behind them, but for one reason or another find themselves unemployed. It is also necessary for novice professionals with little or no work experience. This does not mean that top-class specialists will not find anything useful here. It’s just that the problem of finding a job is always more relevant for people who are at the beginning of their work achievements. Superprofessionals usually do not look for work - the job itself finds them. The reasons are clear: with experience comes fame, reputation, and extensive connections in the business environment. Recruiters from recruiting agencies and competing firms are hunting for highly qualified specialists. The situation is different for yesterday’s graduates and mid-level specialists who need to PROVE their professional worth. Well, if it’s necessary, then we’ll prove it. The course will teach you how to convince an employer that you are exactly the specialist he has dreamed of all his life.

1 Reason.

“Why should you bother with nonsense,” one psychologist colleague told me confidentially over a glass of tea, to whom I informed about my decision to write a series of articles on job search. “Instead of sitting stupidly at the computer and typing stupid texts, let’s do better staff training in one commercial company - the money seems to be good.”

I objected in the spirit that, they say, look - how many smart people cannot find work today or work hard for pennies. And not because they do not have professional knowledge and skills, but because they do not know how to present themselves correctly and do not know how to defend their interests when communicating with employers. What is the situation in our labor market today? People are constantly being kicked out, people are being dragged from one place to another. Anger, dissatisfaction, and lack of self-confidence accumulate. Not to mention the fact that the transition to the “unemployed” category causes psychological stress, material and family problems, which many cannot cope with. An exhaustive answer was given to my timid arguments: “Today there are a lot of books and magazines that contain advice on finding a job. Whoever needs it will buy it and read it.”

Concerned by this thought, the next day I visited a nearby bookstore. Indeed, the choice turned out to be quite strong: “Find a job you like”, “How to find a job”, “Quick job search”... The most solid book looked like “Job Search” (from the series that is “...for dummies”) . It was paid for.

I returned home with conflicting feelings. On the one hand, there was disappointment that my original ideas turned out to be completely unoriginal. On the other hand, I felt significant relief. This is what happens when you suddenly find out that some kind uncle did the work for you that was hanging like a stone around your neck...

With awe, I opened the book I had purchased. I read it and swore dirty. Useful tips for finding a job were as follows:

  • To get a good job, gain practical experience first!
  • Charge yourself with energy for your job search!
  • Show enthusiasm and know how to present yourself!
  • Before your interview, get yourself organized and calm in advance!
  • During the interview, control your impulses and try to look your best!

No, I don't argue - the advice is wonderful. The whole point is how to implement them? Go ahead:

  • If you have problems communicating with your employer, sign up for psychological training!
  • If you want to successfully pass psychological testing, buy a book on psychological tests!

For some reason, I remembered the instructions that I once read in a New York hotel room: “To turn on the TV, plug the cord into the electrical outlet...” (I would never have guessed it myself) Yeah... I wanted to I would like to see a person who such advice helped find a job. Tormented by vague forebodings, I looked carefully at the cover of the book. That’s right - the author’s surname is American. This book was not written by our people and not for us. How often do we thoughtlessly adopt Western developments and standards of behavior, forgetting the old proverb: “What is useful to a German is useful to a Russian...”

In general, I had no choice. I had to turn on the computer and pour out my own experience and knowledge of the labor market onto the medium. Out of the goodness of my heart, I also wanted to talk about the psychological aspects of unemployment, the tricks and tricks of employers and recruitment agencies, and what can be opposed to them. The result was the following treatise.

Stories and incidents that happened in the group:

Story 1: Resentment towards the former boss

Last year, an interesting incident occurred at my job search training.
Participant Irina could not understand what exactly was preventing her from getting a job Good work. Together with other participants, she began to perform the “Pro” exercise. The exercise was completed and the participants shared their discoveries. The lesson is over.

However, when she came to the next lesson, Irina admitted that she discovered in herself a severe resentment towards her former boss, which she projected at interviews onto potential employers, and received refusal after refusal. This realization changed Irina’s attitude towards herself, towards employers and towards the image of suitable work. And the situation, of course, changed for the better.

Story 2: Motivation to work

Participants usually come to job search training with a specific request, for example, to learn how to competently write a resume, or successfully pass interviews, or decide on a profession, etc. But one day a 32-year-old man (we’ll call him Dmitry) came to our group. When all the participants expressed their expectations, Dmitry modestly said that he had simply lost his motivation to work. And I came to the training because for some reason the name and content of the program resonated within me.

This is how he explained his presence. And he was not wrong! In the process of exercises, including the use of a coaching approach, he unexpectedly discovered the meaning for which he should stay at his job. And most importantly, he was able to formulate the result until which he could fuel his motivation and developed a detailed plan to achieve the desired result!
