Review and test of the Creative Draco HS880 gaming headset. Impressions from work

Having become acquainted with the gaming headset, we did not miss the opportunity to look at another new product – the Creative Draco HS880, which also appeared in 2015 and is the successor to the Draco HS-850 headset.

Packaging and accessories

Game design Creative headsets Draco HS880 is original – on the front side we are greeted by a dragon’s head, and from its sides you can see the headset itself under a transparent box.

The back of the box reveals in several languages details (use of high-quality neodymium speakers, detachable microphone, rotating ear tips for easy storage) and characteristics.

Key elements also stand out on the sides - the large inscription “EXTREME BASS” is striking, which does not require translation, and the headset has a headphone volume control with the ability to mute the microphone, a long 2.5 meter cable and a weight of 268 grams.

Inside the box we found only a removable microphone with a flexible boom, but this is an incomplete set - when purchasing a new headset, the box should also contain instructions and a travel case.

Appearance

The bright box design definitely caught our attention, and the Creative Draco HS880 gaming headset also stands out, but not as brightly. appearance. Due to the dark red and black glossy elements of the headphones and their rotating mechanism, they look stylish, and the absence of a detachable microphone allows us to say that these are ordinary headphones. In terms of size, it is relatively small, as is its weight of 268 grams.

The design of the gaming headset is classic, using glossy and matte plastic.

You can only rotate the headphones in one direction by 90 degrees, which is enough to “fold” it and reduce its height by putting it in a travel case. The rotating mechanism itself is made moderately rigid/tight, which allows you to fix them in the desired position, and thus the headset will not “walk” on your head.

Unlike a gaming headset, we won’t see the manufacturer’s name on the outside of the Creative Draco HS880 headband, but the most important thing is that rigidity is ensured by a metal core.

The manufacturer did not make the soft part on the inside of the headband too large, but it is made of leatherette.

The height of the headband is adjustable.

A slight “movement” of the bowls themselves is also possible.

The outer profile of the bowls has a protruding glossy oval rim, which will be problematic to clean, since dust is very well attracted.

Large bowls and soft leatherette ear pads have sufficient height.

The detachable microphone connects to the left earpiece of the Creative Draco HS880 headset and is almost invisible that it can be removed.

Under the foam is the microphone head.

The cable of the headset is quite long – 2.5 meters. At the end there are two 3.5 mm gold-plated mini-jack plugs.

The cable contains a remote control for adjusting the volume level and muting the microphone. With the help of a clip you can attach it to your clothes.

Ergonomics

The Creative Draco HS880 gaming headset has excellent ergonomics - this is facilitated by various levels of adjustment, relatively large earcups with soft leatherette ear pads that completely cover the ears and increase listening comfort (reducing external noise), as well as a control panel that can be attached using a clip to clothes, and it will always be “at hand”. So we didn’t find any problems with “adjusting” to the shape of the head.

The discomfort arose due to the long cable (2.5 meters), which, if you use the headset frequently, will have to be straightened, since it periodically curls and is still somewhat heavy.

The Draco HS880 full-size gaming headset builds on the previous model and delivers more explosive bass than its predecessor. The headset features a detachable microphone and swivel ear tips that can be folded for easy storage.
