Logitech g103 gaming keyboard 920 005059. Logitech G103 gaming keyboard review. Keys highlighted in color

Logitech G103 is a classic gaming keyboard. It will be useful for gamers who prefer games of different genres, and if necessary, it can be used for typing and editing texts. The keyboard easily connects to your computer using a 2-meter USB cable.

Thanks to a relatively short response time and effective suppression of phantom clicks, this model allows you to quickly issue commands and confidently control the actions of the character on the screen. Six programmable keys can be configured according to your preferences and the specifics of the selected game, so as not to waste time entering the menu and searching required function in the midst of a virtual battle.

Keys highlighted in color

The keys most important for the game - arrows, WASD block, programmable buttons - are highlighted in red. Thanks to this, gamers won’t have to look for them for long.

Thoughtful design

The developers have provided a comfortable palm rest that allows you to play for a long time without feeling tired. The case is reliably protected from spilled liquids: if you spill water, coffee, or tea on the keyboard, they will flow out through special holes.

Logitech G103 – the most budget gaming keyboard from a well-established brand. But is it really that good, do you need additional buttons, and how critical is the lack of backlighting? We will try to understand these issues in this article.

1. Equipment and characteristics

The Logitech G103 keyboard comes in a beautiful black box.

On back side The main features of the keyboard are indicated.

  • compact design
  • switching between game and work modes
  • 6 programmable G-keys
  • simultaneous pressing of up to 5 keys

The keyboard does look small. The Game Mode switch disables the Windows key, which when accidentally pressed will minimize the game. All programmable keys are on the left and you can assign any keys and combinations to them. Processing up to 5 simultaneous clicks is quite enough, since you won’t be able to press anymore with one hand anyway, and your right hand is always occupied under the mouse.

The interior of the box in black and blue colors looks quite stylish.

The set includes a palm rest and some useless pieces of paper.

The stand has edges; we’ll talk about how convenient it is below.

The mounting system is similar to cheap keyboard stands, but there are 3 rubber feet at the bottom, which is good.

The keyboard cable is quite long (2 m), thin and light.

In my opinion, the braid has absolutely no use for him.

2. Design and ergonomics

The Logitech G103 keyboard is made of matte black plastic High Quality, quite pleasant to look and feel.

Due to the narrow edges, it really looks quite compact and elegant, plus it is also quite thin.

Now let's talk about the keys and start on the left side of the keyboard.

The highlighted red block of WASD keys, which are most often used in games, immediately catches your eye. You can assign any keyboard shortcuts, macros, and some other functions to the G1-G6 keys, which we will talk about when we'll talk about the software.

The F1-F12 keys have a slightly reduced height, but this has virtually no effect on the ease of use. Above them is a red Game Mode button, which disables the Windows key so that accidentally pressing it won't crash the game.

The left Shift is short, which is not very good, and the space bar is the usual length. Among the shortcomings, we can immediately note that the English and Russian letters are too close. In addition, they are painted and protected with a varnish coating. This is not a problem if you have soft fingers, but with rough fingers the paint may be partially erased after 2 years. It is unclear why the manufacturer did not do laser engraving, since it is used even in inexpensive A4Tech keyboards.

Now let's look at the right side of the keyboard.

Here, the presence of a large Enter key immediately pleases the eye. There is also a long Backspace and it’s unclear why the right Shift is very long; it would be better if they made the left one longer. The red color of the arrows here is more of a design element, but it looks good. The block of standard keys above them and the number pad on the right are absolutely complete.

A plus is the presence of metal stabilizers for all enlarged keys (Space, Enter, Shift, etc.). The stabilizers are very good; even pressing the edge of the space bar results in smooth travel of the entire key without distortion.

At the top, in a glossy insert, there are 4 indicators that glow soft yellow when the corresponding modes are activated.

The first is the game mode indicator, which is turned on by the red button on the left. The rest are standard indicators Caps Lock, Scroll Lock and Num Lock. It looks cool, I liked it.

Now let's look at the keyboard from below.

At the bottom on the sides there are two large soft rubber feet, thanks to which the keyboard rests on the table. In the center between them and on top there are small plastic protrusions that also act as legs. Despite its light weight, the keyboard stands quite stable on the table and does not slide or flex too much.

There are also through holes for the liquid protection system at the bottom. If you spill something on the keyboard, everything will spill out through them. I couldn’t figure out why there were deep grooves at the bottom. It’s stupid to put the keyboard cable there, but the mouse cable doesn’t stay there. Perhaps they simply add rigidity to the structure.

As for the cable, it is not removable, comes out from the center of the keyboard and has excellent protection against bending.

In the photo below you can see the left rubber foot and one of the stand mounts.

Additional plastic feet allow you to raise the keyboard.

Then it doesn't lie on the table like a board.

Which makes working with it much more comfortable.

And your fingers fit on the keys as they should.

Now regarding the stand.

It’s nice that it exists, but where the palm should rest when playing (bottom left) it’s too narrow. It turns out that the palm rests on its beveled edge and partially on the table, which is not very comfortable.

If we consider the stand from the point of view of typing, then in the center its width is sufficient and both palms can fit, but due to the too high height, it feels like you are holding your hands on a high laptop keyboard and this is not very comfortable.

In general, I found the keyboard more convenient without a stand, plus it doesn’t take up extra space and looks laconic.

Well, from the back it looks like a spaceship

3. Software

Software for Logitech G103 can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.

After installing and launching the utility, it searches for games installed on the computer. At the time of testing, the utility’s database included 617 games, including those that had recently been released.

In the default profile, the G-keys duplicate the function buttons F1 to F6, respectively.

In some game profiles, the G-keys are already configured for certain actions.

The utility also knows all the control commands in each game, which are displayed in the left column when selecting the profile of a particular game. Just grab the desired command with the mouse and drag it to the desired G-key.

If you click on any of the G-keys, a command editor with wide capabilities opens.

In it, you can assign any keyboard key or combination to the selected G button and, if necessary, set a cyclic repetition at a certain interval, which is used in MMO RPG games.

You can also record a macro, which is the sequence of any keys on the keyboard, mouse and pauses between keystrokes. You can also set a macro to loop at a specific interval.

You can also type some text into the G-key, which will be displayed when you press it in the game chat.

If necessary, you can assign some mouse function.

Or add multimedia functions to the G-keys.

For convenience, there is a ready-made set of special keyboard shortcuts used in Windows.

You can also set the G-key to launch any application.

Or choose one of standard applications Windows.

Additionally, support for the popular voice chat Ventrilo, which is loved by players of online games with a large number of participants (MMO RPG).

You can download the complete manual for Logitech software, which describes all the features, just below in the “Links” section.

4.Using experience

In games, the Logitech G103 keyboard performed well. Moderately tight keys behave adequately. I haven’t found a use for G-keys in any shooters or action games, and to be honest, I don’t play MMO RPGs. But I have had this experience before and I think that it will be useful for fans of such games. I also appreciated the ability to disable the Windows key, although without this I very rarely came across it, but such cases are extremely unpleasant. The volume keys I'm used to were a bit lacking. Short left Shift did not cause me any problems.

When typing, the keys feel a little flimsy. The close placement of English and Russian letters, as well as the red WASD keys, are a little confusing. But I’m glad that the letters are bright white and clearly visible even in low light; the lack of backlighting was not a problem for me at all. It is also convenient that the keyboard has a large Enter; without this, typing text is not so comfortable. However, a number of programmable G-keys were a nuisance. I kept pressing them instead of Esc, Shift and Ctrl. Perhaps you can get used to it, but after several days of use I was not able to adapt.

The first impressions of the stand were confirmed; it turned out to be not very comfortable. On my old keyboard The stand has a shape that slopes smoothly towards the bottom and expands towards the left edge, which is much more comfortable. But, due to the small height of the Logitech G103, it is, in principle, not so necessary. I removed it and it was more convenient for me to use the keyboard without it.

5. Conclusion

Overall, the Logitech G103 keyboard is made at a fairly good level in terms of quality. But for shooters and those who, in addition to games, often work with text or use programs like Photoshop, where the Ctrl and Shift buttons are often used, I would not recommend it.

If you use your computer primarily for MMO games RPGs like WoW, PW, etc., where a large number of keys are used and certain actions are required to be performed repeatedly or cyclically, then this keyboard is suitable for you.

Keyboard A4Tech Bloody B120

Advantages:

A gorgeous keyboard, especially for its price of 680 rubles, there is definitely no better one.
1) There is almost no noise from pressing the keys, very soft pads.
2) Quality from Logitek
3) The wrist rest is made very thoughtfully, it has a slight play that will not allow it to break easily, and it is attached a little differently than conventional supports.
3) The block of additional keys G1-G6 is made conveniently, it is very difficult to touch it accidentally
4) For those who do not know how to touch type, it will be an even bigger plus that both letters are located in the center of the button
5) There is a button that disables Windows buttons during the game (although by and large it is not needed), I have pressed the WIN button a couple of times in my entire life, so apparently the button for curves has been made: D
6) I like that instead of a display in the center, they placed a digital block with lamps for buttons for us to locate, etc., it’s convenient.
7) They throw some kind of key for the game Dragon Nest as a gift
8) The feeling that the keyboard response is faster than that of conventional keyboards, although this may be a psychological feeling)))
9) Typing is very convenient, you just need about 5 minutes to get used to the short left shift, small enter and the presence of the first button /|\ instead of Z
10) The keyboard feet are well rubberized and do not slip on a laminated table.
11) Via the driver, you can program the G1-G6 buttons for those who need multimedia buttons.

Flaws:

1) You need to download the driver (SetPoint), but again, if you have a Logitech mouse, you don’t need it.
2) It would be better to make the F1-F12 buttons full-size

For its low price, the keyboard more than justifies itself and pays for itself, and will probably be the best option in this price category. Quite comfortable, high quality.
I hope that my little comment helped you in some way :)

    Advantages:

I've been using the keyboard for a year. During this period of time, I tested the keyboard, so to speak, full blast:) Let's start:
    1) Water resistance is what is truly important) I spilled tea, cola and other drinks on this keyboard several times, so far it lives and is happy) nothing sticks anywhere, everything is good so far)
    2) Build quality. I am a gamer (a very emotional gamer), and in fits of anger I can hit the keyboard :) No defects or deformations are noticeable, everything is assembled well.
    2) Ease of use. There are days when I can, for example, sit at the computer for 6-8 hours, my hands don’t get tired after a long game (at least on the stand, which, by the way, is included in the kit)
3)6 macro keys. I'm not a macro person or a cheater, but there are times when these buttons come in very handy. You can program them very easily in the official Logitech utility.
    4) Big ENTER(!!!)
    5) Low price.
    6) Does not slip on the table during long-term play.

    Flaws:

So I come to the shortcomings. Unfortunately, this keyboard has them.
    1) After six months of use, the stand mount broke. And it’s probably impossible to repair them, because... The mount is very fragile.
    2) The keys could have been made a little bigger.
    3) Small l. shift It was very uncomfortable at first, but you can get used to it.
    4) The keyboard is quite noisy.

The keyboard is for games, not for work. But made of very high quality. Those who work a lot on the computer may not like this keyboard.
If the gaming block of buttons on the left G1-G6 were moved to the top and made longer shift caps and other function keys, it would be an ideal keyboard. It’s convenient to type the text itself, but switching the layout and other actions with shift and control, alas, is not.

    Advantages:

Durable body, clear, deep key travel; when in use, it feels like the keyboard was designed for gamblers who hit the keys as hard as they can. The price is more than adequate.

    Flaws:

The inconvenience stems from the origin of the keyboard. It is primarily for gaming purposes, and typing text on it, unfortunately, is not as convenient as playing. Small shift and red block game buttons on the left, which you often touch, require getting used to.

I bought it mainly because of the palm rest, I was attracted by the design and the relatively low price. Well, it’s been in use for a year - I’m happy, I’m used to it, I don’t think about changing it.

    Advantages:

Cool design, popular brand, additional keys, comfortable palm rest, non-slip on the table - like a glove. The keys are pleasant to press, do not click, and are not small in height. The package contains a bonus code for the game Dragon Nest. This code and bright pictures convinced me to download the game. Marketers know their stuff :-)

    Flaws:

The additional keys are not conveniently located; I don’t use them in games - I couldn’t comfortably place my claws to grab them.

I would like to dwell on the shortcomings in more detail. Let me immediately note that this concerns me personally.
    1. Russian and English letters are located in the center of the button, i.e. not in different corners, but precisely in the center, pressed against each other. They are highlighted in one color (white). Their only difference is that the English letters are in bold, and the Russian letters are in a very thin font. When typing, these shortcomings are clearly confusing.
    2. Due to additional The keys began to lose the esc button. If it is usually located in the very top left corner, now the G1 button is in that place, and esc itself is slightly to the right. Besides, I haven’t gotten used to the fact that there are more buttons on the left side, so sometimes I get lost =). But again, this is my personal shortcoming.

    Advantages:

    Price, assembly, stability.

    Flaws:

    1. Russian and English letters are located in the center of the button. The Russian font is very thin.
    2. Additional keys often get confused when using the keyboard “blindly” (but this is a matter of habit).
    3. Short left shift

It’s a stretch to call this keyboard a gaming keyboard, only because of the programmable buttons. In many FPS games where you have to shift frequently, for example in Battlefield 3, a small left shift is inconvenient. Due to the light weight and insufficient grip of the rubber feet, the keyboard often slides off the polished table. The wrist rest attachment is quite flimsy and it is easy to break when attaching this rest.

    Advantages:

Quality workmanship, deep and elastic key travel, comfortable wrist rest, small dimensions.

    Flaws:

Small left Shift, which is very inconvenient in some games, thin and fragile USB cable, unreliable attachment of the wrist rest, light weight.

As the owner of the device, I confirm the truth of ilyich2012’s words.
The keyboard doesn't really stand out from regular office keyboards. Except for programmable buttons. For those who are ready to customize macros for them, this is an irreplaceable thing. But, I must admit, customizable buttons on a Logitech mouse or a special gaming keyboard are much more convenient.

    Advantages:

    1. The presence of programmable buttons on which you can attach macros + a proprietary utility from Logitech with which you can program buttons or you can download profiles from the company website.
    2. Function to disable function buttons for Game mode.

    Flaws:

    1. The design of the buttons is normal, not for gaming.
    2. The wrist pad is attached flimsily, one of the lugs broke after a week (my 2-year-old son helped :))
    3. The location of the function buttons is unfortunate (although you have to understand that you can’t place them any other way on a qwerty keyboard).
    4. The keyboard is light and walks on the table.

The youngest model in the Logitech gaming keyboard family. Other models in the family are 2-3 times more expensive, and the quality of the keyboard itself is inherited from them. The manufacturer saved on everything, including the wire and delivery kit. There are even 6 programmable keys and not 12, like the older model. However, the keyboard is a hit in my opinion.

    Advantages:

High-quality keys, press quietly, do not play. Supports up to 5 simultaneous clicks. G-buttons are easy to program for any function. A real gaming keyboard.

    Flaws:

The keyboard does not have multimedia keys,
There is no usb hub, no jacks for sound. There is also no backlight and LCD display. In general, there is no nonsense that manufacturers are used to shoving into the keyboard. Quite a thin wire. The package does not include a driver disc.

I’ve been using it for 4 years now, bought it for 600 rubles, with a palm rest, handed it in, hammered it with all my might, took it apart - everything withstood it, the keys still haven’t worn out, easy to clean, friendly with the OS, installs on any PC instantly, if you don’t install it corresponding additional software keys take on the role of F-keys. Overall, I’m very pleased with the purchase, I think it will last just as long.

    Advantages:

Comfortable, durable, letters do not wear off, stylish.

I've owned the keyboard for over a year and am still happy with it. Comfortable soft keys work well both in games and in normal use. At first, the layout of the keys was inconvenient, but pretty quickly I got used to it, as with everything you start actively using.

I only came across a non-defective keyboard the second time. First purchased from MVideo, the next day I had to return it because the Windows power button refused to work. The second time everything is fine (I bought it in another store).

Additional keys are absolutely useless in games, only if you bind some chat commands to them. What annoys me the most (so far) is the additional G1 key. I’m used to feeling for ESC, so I often press G1 instead, it’s a little annoying.

Overall, an excellent keyboard from Logi; for this money you can hardly find similar design, quality and functionality. And for those who need backlighting (I don’t understand why it’s needed) there is a similar one with flashlights.

    Advantages:

Price. Quality. Palm rest. Minimize button off key.

    Flaws:

    Additional keys.

Now I would choose something else if I had to take it.

    Advantages:

Up to 5 simultaneously pressed buttons work without problems.

    Flaws:

It would be better not to have these additional buttons on the left. I'm used to finding Esc by touch with my left hand, on this keyboard, I always miss on G1, which is the same as the F1 button by default. The additional button between the left shift and Z also does not add convenience in games.

The quality is noticeably better than cheaper analogues. A bit noisy, but not like a typewriter. The letters are not printed very well - it will not be comfortable for those who type a lot. However, the keyboard is positioned as a gaming keyboard, and would cope with its task perfectly if not for the short shift. Generally good keyboard for my own money (I bought it for 880 rubles)

    Advantages:

A regular keyboard with additional, inconveniently located buttons. The left shift is small, often your finger slips off it or you miss it altogether. Additional buttons also often get under your fingers. And so - the keyboard is just like a keyboard. Budget gaming average.

    Advantages:

Regular keyboard. Without a hand rest - quite compact. There is switching between Game/Work modes.

    Flaws:

Little left shift. No backlight. Sometimes (infrequently) simultaneous pressing of 3 - 4 keys or frequent (double - triple) pressing of one key does not work well.
