For some reason, distribution blocks KBR-80A and similar ones are not very popular. But in vain! They are very convenient for use in different distribution panels. Such single-phase units are very convenient for switching from a large cross-section cable to a smaller one; with their help, you can organize power distribution to protection devices, etc. They are mounted either on a DIN rail or on a regular mounting panel and have a dielectric housing. In a word, I really liked their use and I will use them where necessary. Using these distribution blocks, a very reliable and high-quality connection of several wires is created. And that's what we need.

These distribution blocks are difficult to find in electrical goods stores and are only available to order and only in packages. Therefore, as soon as I saw them on sale, I immediately made a reserve for the future)))

Recently I already used KBR-80A to distribute PEN conductors in an apartment building during overhaul of the floor panel. It turned out just perfect)))

It is also possible to use such blocks as the organization of the main grounding bus (GGB) in the power supply of private houses. Also for the transition from the TN-C to TN-C-S grounding system. This is especially true in three-phase networks, where the incoming PEN conductor must have a reliable connection and it is necessary to exclude the possibility of it burning out, which can lead to the appearance of 380V sockets and failure of electronic equipment.

Below I propose, using photographs, to take a closer look at similar distribution blocks using the example of KBR-80A from EKF.

This unit is designed for a current of 80A alternating or direct voltage up to 660V. In panels for private houses and apartments, nothing more is needed.

The front cover opens. Although you don’t have to open it, since it has holes for access to the bolts.

Up to three wires with a cross-section of 16 mm 2 and up to four wires with a cross-section of up to 10 mm 2 can be connected to this distribution block KBR-80A.

I will immediately note that if four PUGV 1x6 wires crimped with NShVI lugs are connected in a row to the holes designed for 10 mm 2 wires, then they fit close to each other perfectly. But four PUGV 1x10 wires with NShVI lugs will no longer fit. The skirt of the tips will get in the way. As an option in this case, you can remove this skirt or use NShV tips without it.

Back view. Here you can see that this unit has latches for mounting on a standard 35 mm DIN rail and there are holes for bolts for mounting on a mounting panel.

The internal part where the wires are connected can be easily removed from the plastic case. It is made from at least 95% tinned copper and has a solid thickness to hold its load. .

To tighten the wires you need hexagons different sizes depending on where the wires are connected. The thicker the wire, the thicker the hole, the thicker the bolt itself and, accordingly, a larger hexagon is needed.

When I installed this block, I felt a real pleasure from the fact that they are twisted using hexagons. They do not break off or spin, as sometimes happens with screwdrivers, which, while scrolling, eat the slots from the bolts. These bolts are tightened very well and practically do not require subsequent tightening.

The bolts themselves are thick and cover the holes almost completely, which allows you to clamp the wires very securely.

This part of the bolt presses the wire...

If you liked this distribution block and want to purchase it, then below you can find excerpts from the catalogs of different manufacturers, where their article numbers, sizes and other parameters are indicated. It's kind of like a cheat sheet that will save you time searching for them.

EKF distribution blocks

IEK distribution blocks

ABB distribution blocks. Only a small part of them is presented here.

Legrand distribution blocks

Get acquainted with the catalogs and choose what you need.

I would like to note that approximately 80A units from IEK and EKF cost about 250-300 rubles, ABB about 1 thousand rubles, Legrang for 160A about 2 thousand rubles. Why give 1 thousand rubles for? and more I don’t know. Maybe just for the brand?

Have you seen similar distribution blocks for sale in electrical goods stores?

Translated, the word “cross” has two similar meanings: a cross or something intersecting. It describes processes, phenomena or events that intersect with each other in one way or another. This word has become firmly established in our lives. You can recall sports cross-country running, which is so popular in physical education classes, for example, in schools. A general overview of the word cross helps to understand the operating principle and design of such a product as a distribution modular block (cross-module).

Cross module is a device that can be assigned to the zero bus. The zero bus housing can contain from 2 to 4 buses. The cross-module performs the function of branching wires. For example, you can make one input for zero and several outputs to devices.

Cross module makes it possible to carry out comfortably, safely and reliably installation work in, in electrical devices. Their most common application is the arrangement of the classic version of distribution equipment. Cross modules are responsible for tightly connecting wires and other elements.

The main task of cross-modules is to connect and distribute lines, distribute electricity, coming from one source, to several devices, connect the ground wires to the main ground wire.

Frame modular distribution block very compact. Inside it there are metal bus bars separated from each other with screw terminals. Busbars are usually made of brass or a special type of copper.

Very convenient to use cross modules in panels with three phases. Why? They make it possible to switch the load between phases without damaging the design of the remaining connections. Also using of this device you can supply a phase to an independent group of machines, while avoiding connecting three cables with one clamp. Generally speaking, a crossover module is an ideal way to distribute power from a source to multiple devices. Their use guarantees compact design, convenience and complete safety.

I wonder what cross module can be used as an adapter terminal block when working with large cross-section cables. In such cases, it may be necessary to connect a certain number of conductors with a small cross-section. The cross-module can handle this job. It can be used to connect from 2 to 4 wires.

The design of the cross-module includes a cover with holes. It provides convenient pulling of terminal screws. The terminals are usually mounted at a safe distance from each other. This feature prevents them from shorting. The lid itself, like the body, is made of a special type of plastic, which guarantees the fire safety of the product.
