Bose soundlink mini speaker system. Bose SoundLink Mini is a great-sounding little thing. Bose SoundLink apps

Having tested a dozen portable speakers, we learned to predict their advantages and disadvantages - even before we take the new device out of the box. Looking back, nothing could not prepare us for meeting Bose SoundLink Mini.

Here is the most amazing portable speaker we've ever reviewed. Possibilities SoundLink Mini many times larger than its size. And it's not about the features, but about the stunning sound quality. This minimalist, small oval thing plays in such a way that the pupils of those around you dilate, your pulse quickens, and the required amount instantly pours out of your wallet. Verified.

They did not expect

Bose– one of the synonyms of high-quality sound. The brand name comes to mind every time someone searches good acoustics for home. Still on the pages website their mobile speakers did not appear, and it was decided to start getting to know them with SoundLink Mini.

SoundLink Mini forever changed our ideas about mobile sound and the capabilities of portable speakers. And not only ours. The entire RuNet is replete with similar reviews from buyers of the device. Shock, surprise, love from the first track - this is how you can describe the first minutes of owning a speaker. In this regard, there is a question addressed to Bose's competitors: how can you even compete with this?

Equipment and design

The speaker's delivery package is almost predictable, with a small but very important surprise. In addition to the device itself, lying on a plastic pedestal, the box stores a network cable, a micro-USB cable and a docking station with a port inductive charging. We'll talk about it and how much it means to the owner a little later. And now about the highlight of the program, sharp and aluminum.

Every second portable speaker on the market has a strictly rectangular shape. SoundLink Mini stands out against their background: instead of perfectly straight lines, it has curved, rounded dimensions. The case makes us draw a parallel with the front speaker from an expensive home theater set. The parallel, by the way, is not far from the truth. Comparing this speaker with portable speakers, even large ones, is almost pointless. There will be a beating of a person lying down, but not with hands, but with the force of sound.

All controls on the column are located at the top, in the center. Opposite the logo are all the typical keys familiar to owners of portable speakers. Power off, mute, volume control, Bluetooth controller and input source switch. All extreme buttons are recessed into the body. This is done in order to adjust the volume blindly. Or maybe just to break up the design.

The dark gray stripe between the logo and the keys hides the operation status LEDs. There are four of them in total. By the way, the speaker, given its size, is not a light one - 670 grams is still felt in the hands, at the same time instinctively arousing respect and confidence in the quality. Gadget lovers have this weakness: heavier means cooler. Old habits are difficult to overcome, also because of such little things that strongly confirm the correctness of the judgment.

The bottom is covered with a dense rubber stand, which successfully dampens the vibrations of the speaker at maximum volume and completes the picture that is typical of front speakers, but not portable ones. This plate also acts as a mount for the docking station.

The Bose SoundLink Mini comes with a plastic docking station with a plug for inductive charging. The latter connects to the corresponding port in the speaker every time you install the acoustics on the “pedestal”. By connecting power to the dock, the owner receives incredibly convenient Charger, continuing the best visual features of the column.

Instead of having to deal with cords every time, you can simply place the speaker in the dock, and then remove it and move it just as easily. Very comfortably. This approach allows you to hide the unsightly power cable away, behind furniture and other objects, leaving only the cradle in a visible place. It will turn out very nice:

Sound

Remember what the last one sounded like? portable speaker, which you listened to. And forget about it forever. Bose SoundLink Mini plays as if its speakers are three to four times larger, and there are at least five of them themselves. I think that the engineers who first assembled the prototype of this model felt the same way as Gagarin did at the time of his flight into space.

A small and austere speaker from Bose, as expected, reproduces high frequencies well without affecting the brightness of vocals or the effect of the presence of instruments. But then the real magic begins: we have never heard such detailed, varied midrange frequencies from mobile speakers. It’s generally scary about the lows: there is no separate low-frequency speaker, but the bass sounds amazingly decent.

Bose is in no hurry to expand on how they managed to achieve such sound quality. Most likely, the miracles come from the use of a proprietary dual passive radiator design. Thanks to it, SoundLink Mini plays low frequencies unexpectedly detailed, filling the music with depth and variety that is unusual for mobile acoustics.

This is exactly the speaker you need to listen to before jumping to any conclusions. Otherwise, there is simply nothing to argue and discuss about. Hats off to Bose.

Additional accessories and price

Bose's minimalist design can be customized with one of five colorful cases. The format is known to every iPhone owner: essentially, these are silicone bumpers with colored stripes on the edges and a transparent protective wall. By matching the bumper to the color of the room, you can fit SoundLink Mini into any interior. And at the same time protect against falls from the shelf.

In addition to bumpers, Bose sells a branded survival-style case that will definitely appeal to the Tracer.ru audience. Really high quality and dense, with a pocket for cables and the softest inside, this case is perfect for transporting the SoundLink Mini over long distances.

The column is removed and inserted with force, clearly adjusted to the millimeter.

Review

BOSE did not disappoint, the sound quality is excellent. The build quality is the same. I think the volume is good for its size. There is another speaker for comparison, JBL Charge - it is louder with similar dimensions, but it only picks up high and medium frequencies, low frequencies. are absent, unlike BOSE. I'm not a prof. musician, but I can feel the difference between these speakers very well. There is a negative point about BOSE - the lack of uniform sound at 360 degrees. around you. When the speaker is placed at the end, and not with the speakers facing the person, the volume drops noticeably, there is a real feeling that you are listening to music from somewhere on the side, as if you were behind sound waves. JBL, for example, does not have this, where the location of the speaker relative to the person is not important, the sound is the same at 360 degrees. The second point is the weight, the speaker is quite heavy. I admit that this is necessary, as already mentioned to combat vibration and due to the use of higher quality and more expensive components and materials. But since I often have to take the speaker with me, this is rather a minus for me. IN RESULT: I recommend this speaker for purchase to those people who care about sound quality and who will mainly use it in one place without carrying much with them, having the opportunity to correctly position it relative to themselves in order to reveal its full potential. Review based on the results of three months of operation and comparison with other existing speakers.

I'll be the first :-)
I purchased this device today. I was choosing between the Bose soundlink mini and this one, and still chose this one. Firstly, the price difference. Secondly, I didn’t notice a very big difference between the mini and Color. Of course it exists, but I compare it with the mini only because today the mini is considered, in fact, almost the standard of such technology. Now, more specifically... The sound is very good. The mids and highs are quite well balanced, and the bass is also present. Compared to most similar speakers... the Color's sound is not like a can, but quite decent. I repeat...balanced and quite soft. That is, it is really pleasant to listen to. Personally, I need the speaker mainly for watching movies at low volume. And she is doing this well so far. Oddly enough for such a device... there is no cacaphony of sounds. Everything sounds quite clear and crisp. Of course it also depends on the quality of the audio. Compared to the mini, the sound here lacks volume, and the bass is certainly less. But I’m not a big fan of very big bass, the main thing is that it’s there and doesn’t drown out other frequencies. Just as they don’t blend in with them and don’t mumble. Some films sound a little muffled, but I repeat, this depends on the quality of the audio. Overall I expected the worst. There has been no desire to take the speaker to the store yet. For me, the advantages are its greater mobility and stated operating time. But it’s too early to judge this. Overall a good balanced sound. With bass and everything. Sometimes it’s a little dull, but I haven’t noticed a big “canning” effect yet. Everything sounds very good for such a speaker.
Appearance I like it too. I got it in blue and it looks pretty good. Slightly retro, perhaps. voice notifications, which can be turned off, but they do not interfere. You can connect two devices at once and use them alternately, which is also convenient. You can also connect a player, but I have not tested this. For my purposes - watching a movie, sometimes music or radio - it’s fine for now.

Advantages:

Sound, compactness, ease of use, appearance.

Flaws:

Haven't noticed it yet.

Well... after watching enough reviews, I decided to take something more expensive (there is also an i200Pro4 cheaper, for example) and with really good sound... But compact in size so that you can carry it with you.
Original. But - Disappointment!!! The sound is certainly not bad, there is bass, but... you can’t fool physics, you have to pay something for the size (and in the case of BOSE more than once)))) Judging by the manufacturer’s website, it is positioned as a sport ax, but I don’t really believe that it capable of sounding a sport noisy room. Directional sound. At maximum, everything wheezes early.
I expected more... if it would have cost 3-5 thousand, it would have been fine... but for 10k... the sound is clearly not up to par!!!

In general, if you don’t mind the money, then you can take it, anyway, everything else is cheaper, more expensive, but the SAME size plays about the same. The difference is in the nuances, but you shouldn’t expect a miracle.

    Advantages:

    Brand...
The actual size in the hand is smaller than you expect.
    Probably the sound...
    Choice of body colors
    Build quality.

    Flaws:

You wanted an external speaker - that's all you'll get
    No microphone
    The sound is dull
    At maximum it still wheezes

I bought it in November 2014 as a gift, everyone was happy with it. The sound is amazing! It plays loudly and efficiently, without any wheezing or hints of sound distortion. The quality of the case is excellent, the battery lasts for 6-7 hours, it works with PowerBank without any problems.

    Advantages:

Very good portable speaker. High-quality bass, ideal for travel, a variety of body colors.

    Flaws:

CAUTION, FAKES!!! Be sure to check the bottom of the column for the presence of factory stamps/inscriptions, serial number etc. And also when you turn it on, pay attention to the voice choice of language, it must be there! The original box is rectangular and quite large. The fake box has a closer to square, compact box. The BOSE logo on the original is white, while the fake is silver and of dubious quality.

Just recently I started thinking about buying a portable speaker system for use outside the home (in the garden, on a picnic, on vacation). Since I already have a second Companion from Bose at home, I didn’t feel much pain in choosing a brand. I was just thinking whether to take SoundLink Mini or Color. The price tag and dimensions tipped the scales towards the latter. I bought it, turned it on, listened to it. I realized that I bought exactly what I wanted. The sound quality over the wire is better, but over BT it’s quite up to par. Connects with everything that was offered. In a word, a very good thing. Although not cheap.

    Advantages:

Good balanced sound, portability, nothing superfluous, decent volume reserve

    Flaws:

    haven't found it yet

Due to the design of the speaker, many people have the impression that this is a mono speaker, but this is not the case; if you look closely, you can see 2 round speakers and 1 oval passive speaker behind the perforations, so the Color is a full-fledged younger brother of the SoundLink Mini. Regarding fakes: do not be fooled by the low price and buy from authorized Bose dealers. By the way, using the “play\pause” button you can control playback if you connect your smartphone via bluetooth, even on Android. 1 click - pause\play, 2 clicks - next track, 3 clicks - previous track. To reset the settings to factory settings, you need to hold down the "AUX" and "volume down" buttons for 10 seconds.

    Advantages:

Great rich sound in any musical genre; compact dimensions (at which the speaker produces decent bass); automatic frequency balancing, thanks to which there is no wheezing or distortion at maximum volume; battery life up to 8 hours; housing made of high-quality durable plastic. Micro USB charging.

I am writing a review on the day of purchase.
I’ll say right away that I have Harman/Kardon Onix at home. There is something to compare with, and I have listened to many others in salons and stores. In the store the sound was not impressive, at first glance it was not shocking, muffled and flat.
At home in a calm atmosphere I listened to my favorite tracks and was satisfied.
Received a little more than expected. I couldn't find any speaker configurations online. In the light of the grille there were 2 round speakers and two passive oval radiators (emitters). One is passive in front, the second is behind.
As a result, the pressure created is not comical and the middle and tops do not lift up. The sound turned out to be very balanced and clear. There are also enough details. The vocals are pleasant to listen to and the instrumental music is enjoyable. Heavy genres lose a little in intelligibility, but the format is not the same.
In general, Bos has not tarnished his honor, a very worthy option. Looks much cheaper than it sounds.

    Advantages:

The sound is truly impressive. The entire range is covered, excluding the very bottom, but the bass is there and not small.

    Flaws:

No speakerphone, defective power supply included.

  • I have already written quite a few reviews about the products of Bose, a well-known manufacturer of high-quality speaker systems (and not only). And there was always one conclusion - an excellent quality product. IN this review we'll talk about a very compact, self-contained speaker system with Bluetooth - Bose SoundLink Mini.

    1. Packaging and kit:

Sealed in plastic film, a cardboard box of not very small sizes

The main features are listed at the back,

Below is the scope of delivery.

We open the package and in front of us are 2 boxes:

Let's start with a large, 2-tier.... Under the cover is the column itself in a special substrate

    Then the cradle,

At the very bottom is the charger:

In a small box there are only 2 adapters for European and English sockets

    That's the whole set....

Strange... I was a little surprised, to be honest... Add a cradle (I personally don’t need it at all), but not add an audio cable and at least some kind of case...? A very controversial decision. But it is what it is.

    2. Design and design features:

I'll start with the overall dimensions. Despite the impressive size of the box, the speaker itself is very miniature

    Comparison with iPhone 5S

    Well, very compact :)

If we're talking about dimensions, then I'll also mention the weight, which is not very small for such dimensions - 670g. (although, depending on what you compare with :)) But this is not surprising -

Bose SoundLink Mini has a unibody aluminum body

Now let's take a closer look at the column...

Bose branding on perforated front panel

The back has exactly the same panel, but without the inscription

Through it you can see a passive resonator that improves sound quality

All control buttons are located on top; by the way, they are made of rubber and slightly recessed (except for volume control)

Above the power button is a built-in battery charge indicator,

Silent mode and AUX indicators are milky white,

The Bluetooth indicator during search is blue, when a connection is established it is also milky white

The volume buttons do not have indicators.

On the right side surface there are 2 connectors: charging and audio input (AUX)

From the point of view of convenience (my personal opinion), it would be better if they were in the back, but maybe this was impossible due to the presence of the rear acoustic resonator.

The left side is completely smooth

The base of the case has an impressive rubber “sole” that provides stability on smooth surfaces. In addition, the center of gravity of the system is shifted down, so it is quite difficult to accidentally move the column. The following are also indicated: s/n, country of origin (Mexico) and charger parameters. Well, in one of the corners there are contact pads for the cradle and a MicroUSB connector (for updating the software, but how to do this is not indicated anywhere)

The cradle itself is made of black plastic, almost weightless, with shock-absorbing rubber strips on the sides.

In the upper right corner there are contacts for charging the speaker and a fixing pin (to avoid displacement, although the speaker is already placed in a niche and has nowhere to go)

What else interested me and to which I could not find an answer: there are 2 contacts in the cradle, and there are 4 contact pads on the system. One can only guess what the 2 additional ones are used for...

The connector for connecting the charger is on the right side of the cradle

Well, why not do it from the back? This is more convenient than a cable sticking out to the side. Alas, there is...

On the bottom, again: rubber anti-slip strips, information about the model and requirements for the device.

Here is the power supply itself:

What prompted Bose not to use the MicroUSB connector for charging, so familiar to all other manufacturers, and even manage to make 12V/0.833A? Honestly - just a shock! Losing or damaging the charger is almost equivalent to losing the speaker or you will have to run around looking for it..... No comments!

This is what the system looks like in the dock:

Now a little about the “filling”. In order to provide high-quality sound with such a small size, specialists from Bose had to work hard and “rack their brains.” The sound is produced by 2 small speakers and a rather complex system of passive resonators, which are located both in the front (between the speakers) and in the back. Below is a screenshot of an advertising video about the device... So the heavy aluminum body is made for a reason...

What else can you say about the characteristics? Battery capacity is unknown, but it provides up to 7 hours battery life. Full charging time is about 3 hours.

When the speaker turns on, the battery indicator lights up for 10 seconds and then turns off to conserve charge. To check the charge, press and hold the power button, the indicator will light up. The indicator turns green when the battery has 70 percent charge or more. Yellow indicates a charge between 20 and 70 percent. And red means less than 20 percent battery charge.

There is no built-in microphone, so you won’t be able to use the speaker in hands-free mode.

And finally, about the design: here it is - 5 points. The appearance is very harmonious, calm, and at the same time pleasing to the eye. Well, if you are a fan of Apple technology, then even more so :)

    3. Connection:

As you probably already understood, connection is possible in two ways: via Bluetooth and a 3.5 jack audio cable. In both cases everything is very simple. First of all, turn on the speaker with the power button, then select the connection type. If it is Bluetooth, then, when connecting for the first time, we slightly hold down the corresponding button, the indicator blinks blue. On the sound source (iPhone 5S was used), turn on the search and select the Bose Mini SoundLink that appears. The column indicator changes color to milky white... That's it...

    You can listen...

Well, connecting with a cable is even easier: connect and press the AUX button.

Please note that in any of the methods, the volume levels on the speaker and on the iPhone are not synchronized (although I have seen this happen). If the volume on the connected device is at maximum, this does not mean that it is also maximum on the system. The loudest sound is achieved by increasing the volume to the maximum on both devices (this may be a truism, but I mentioned it just in case).

    4. Sound quality:

ABOUT design features I already wrote about acoustics, so now I’m talking about listening impressions. First, let me give you the opinion of Bose itself on this matter:

"You wouldn't expect to hear this much power from a speaker this small, but the SoundLink® Mini takes the system to the next level. You don't have to sacrifice power for portability. Proprietary technologies and innovative driver configurations combine to deliver full-range sound, including low frequencies, in an ultra-compact package. Now you have the opportunity to take your music with you and listen to it wherever you go."

I repeat, as in some other reviews... I am not a music lover and am not strong in special terms to describe sound quality, only my personal impressions or the opinions of other people who have listened this system. For evaluation, I selected compositions from different genres, but only high-quality ones: downloaded from the iTunes Store, converted from original CDs, or already available in ALAC format. What exactly.... M. Gulko, Accept, Iron Maiden, Pilgrim, El Pasador, Yngwie Malmsteen, MC ST Yura, Savages, Vanessa Mae, Louis Armstrong, Alisa - such an assortment :) Yes, and I also watched a couple of films with DTS sound. I can definitely say that the sound quality exceeded all my expectations. It's hard to believe that such a "little one" is capable of playing so great. The bass is noticeable, the sound is clear with excellent detail, no wheezing or distortion at maximum volume (and it can really sound a 2-room apartment, but a small one). It's safe to say that Bose performed a "small miracle" :) And I'm writing this entire review while enjoying the music from this speaker.

My words are confirmed by the highest rating the system received from the authoritative resource What Hi*Fi?

    Here are some more opinions:

"The sound is truly amazing, and you will not find a speaker of this size with the same sound quality. Bright bass, huge, truly huge volume reserve, the sound is clear, interesting, so to speak, groovy."

"I came across the Bose Soundlink Mini at the airport (and there was a large selection of similar devices), turned it on and just fell in love. It sounds fantastic for such a little thing. I bought it right away and have been enjoying it for a week now. An excellent solution for the home (kitchen/bedroom and etc.), and even more so for travel."

“I saw it behind the glass in the store and asked the seller to turn it on. I couldn’t help but buy it.”

    5. Accessories:

Yes, this is something new in my reviews, but in this case we cannot do without it. Now it’s clear why there is no cover included :) On the official Bose website (not Russian) I found 3 different types: plastic SoundLink® Mini Bluetooth® speaker soft cover in 3 colors ($24.95), leather SoundLink in 2 colors ® Mini Bluetooth® speaker leather cover ($34.95)

And SoundLink® Mini Bluetooth® speaker travel bag ($44.95)

You can also find a car charger on sale - Bose SoundLink Mini Car Charger

    6. Conclusion:

Bose SoundLink Mini- very good stylish autonomous compact acoustic system with excellent sound quality! The only downsides are the lack of a case included and a non-standard charger. But this is clearly not a reason to refuse the purchase. So I recommend it!

A portable speaker with an unusual layout that can help you have fun in a variety of situations; The strength of the Bose SoundLink Revolve is its sociality, which is achieved through surround sound, but there are other tricks, for example, a pair of Revolves can work together...

    Design, construction

The popularity of the Bose SoundLink Mini has pushed the entire category of small Bluetooth speakers into space - now it seems to many that portable speakers have always been on the market, but in fact, only four years have passed since the introduction of the first Mini. First, the speaker was tested in the USA and Europe, even those who did not believe in the possibility of high-quality sound at such a size were surprised and placed an order, then the fame spread to Russia.

I remember how I convinced my friend to try the Bose SoundLink Mini and even went with him to the store to dispel all doubts, he listened, was surprised and immediately laid out the money. The most interesting thing is that before the Bose SoundLink Mini there were many different small speakers on the market, serious efforts were made by a variety of companies - Nokia tried to get people hooked on such things ten years ago, portable speakers were made by Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Jawbone. But, people should be convinced of the need and capabilities of the device before paying - at some point a turning point occurs and sales reports skyrocket before saturation occurs. By the way, now is a strange moment when all self-respecting companies have portable acoustics, five or six positions each, speakers for business trips and get-togethers in the garden, protected or unprotected, ultra-compact ones for running and huge systems with Bluetooth that can help organize a small concert. And there seems to be no saturation yet, companies are quietly updating their lines, new names are appearing. Apparently, this situation will continue for another couple of years, together with Bluetooth headphones, the category is quietly growing, blooming and everything is fine - but for the consumer it is very important to choose the right thing in the sea of portables.

Here we should immediately note that in the case of portable acoustics, price and the name of the manufacturer always matter and, even without hearing, it is easy to notice the difference. Therefore, I will not fail to repeat an important thought - before you pay, go to the store and listen for yourself with your tracks. Or listen when the courier from the online store arrives. They don’t charge you money for it, but you won’t be disappointed.

Bose carefully prepared for the spring-summer season of 2017, presenting three portable speakers at once: Bose SoundLink Revolve, Bose SoundLink Revolve + and Bose SoundLink Color II. The most expensive among them is Bose SoundLink Revolve +, the most affordable Bose SoundLink Color II. I’ll say in advance that I personally liked the Bose SoundLink Revolve + the most, but the usual Revolve, a summer hit, will sell with all its might. There will be separate texts about all columns for greater convenience for you, but I decided to start with Revolve. Another important note: Mini II remains on the shelf; the speakers are not discontinued. Nothing is known yet about the continuation. So, Revolve is simply an extension of Bose's "portable" line.

Just like in the Mini, and in many other Bose devices, good sound quality here is achieved through the use of a fantastic circuit - only one (!) wide-range speaker is installed in the case, working with passive membranes directed in opposite directions.

A similar scheme is used in Mini, only there the elements are located differently, there are speakers on the left and right, with passive membranes between them - the scheme in Revolve made it possible to obtain “surround sound”. The sound really surrounds the Revolve, creating a dense acoustic field, an incredible sensation, especially considering the size of the device. This is precisely the difference between Bose devices and gadgets from other companies - due to special design, it is possible to achieve not only some more or less high-quality sound for a small speaker. No, here we're talking about about special experiences, sensations from the track - I think any SoundLink Mini owner will agree with me. Even if you have floor-standing speakers and a complete set of equipment worth several million rubles, in a number of situations SoundLink will please you, be it a trip, a trip out of town, or anything like that. So Revolve continues the portable Bose story, just in a slightly different format. During the holidays we gathered around the table and Revolve showed itself perfectly, put it in the center, turned on a quiet radio, everyone was happy. He took it and moved it to a table in the garden. Then, when everyone went to drink tea, he took it with him. Together you can watch some videos on your smartphone with good sound, turn on music and let others do it. And everyone around can hear it perfectly! If SoundLink Mini is a device for an egoist (by and large), then Revolve is a social thing, for companies, for families, maybe even for a small cafe or office. Place it closer to the center, turn it on, enjoy.

Now let's talk more about the design. The body is made of aluminum, with perforations closer to the middle. There are currently two speaker options, black and silver. I think black is very boring, I would choose silver. The speaker is weighty, about 660 grams, dimensions 15.2 x 8.2 x 8.2 cm. It will not take up much space in luggage; branded cases have not yet been shown.

On the top there is a traditional set of controls, selecting a sound source (Bluetooth or 3.5 mm), a power button, volume buttons, and a multifunction button. With its help you can answer a call or start a track. As a speakerphone, the speaker works without problems; at a short distance it is quite possible to talk. The Bluetooth button allows you to select already connected devices and quickly enter pairing mode. There is a voice notification system, including in Russian - the names of connected devices are spoken, the remaining charge time, there is contact synchronization. Now, when you call, Revolve pronounces the subscriber’s number if the contact is recorded in Russian. If written in Latin, then the subscriber’s name is announced, without a number. If voice prompts are annoying, you can turn them off. In general, the speaker can work well as a hands-free negotiation device or even as a device for impromptu meetings.

The device body is protected from splashes according to the IPx4 standard; there is no need to throw it into water, the speaker will withstand splashes. If the scenario with a swimming pool seems somehow exotic, let me remind you of the possibilities of using Bose SoundLink Revolve in the kitchen, in the bathroom, on a sports ground near the house, on the street near a country house - there are hundreds of places where, in theory, splashes could get on the device. So, Revolve is ready for water.

Finally, more details about the materials. In addition to aluminum, which is impervious to the blows of fate, hard rubber is used, the top and bottom are velvety, and Revolve stands on a massive soft leg. Interestingly, there is a thread for mounting on a tripod or other stand; this is not often found in portable speakers. Why is this done? Since sound travels around, you can buy a stand, attach Revolve, connect it to power and place it on the veranda for the summer to delight your family with good music. It seems like a small thing, but someone will probably like it.

Although, Revolve has no small details, Bose engineers have screwed up so many things here - you’re amazed. Moreover, this applies to both hardware and software.

    Bose Connect

Like some other Bose Bluetooth devices, the speaker works with the Bose Connect program, and there are versions of the utility for iOS/Android. Using the program, you can update the speaker software, select Party mode, two devices work in stereo mode - for now Party only works with Bose SoundLink Revolve and Bose SoundLink Revolve +. I tried it, it’s a smart thing, the operating range is about ten meters, the sound is transmitted without delay. An interesting mode for companies where there are Revolve owners, you can voice a large area. Two Revolve + are generally more than enough for a hundred-meter apartment, especially if there is little overlap.

Using the app, you can change the device name, select a language, and quickly switch between your Bose devices. In general, you definitely need to install it - at least to update the software.

    Working hours

The stated operating time is 12 hours, there are two ways to charge, microUSB on the back and an optional cradle, the contacts are at the bottom, to charge you just need to put the speaker in place. Charging takes about two hours.

    Sound

As I said above, we are talking about emotion here - Revolve has absolutely special sound for portable speaker. If the gadget is playing in a large room and is hidden out of sight, it is difficult to understand where exactly the sound is coming from. Huge volume reserve, gorgeous low frequencies, great for electronic music, interesting to listen to jazz. There are no major losses, the vibrations are only positive. It should be taken into account that the speaker constantly receives updates, during a short test I downloaded new software once for both speakers, I did not feel a clear difference in the sound, but who knows, maybe the next firmware will improve the performance of the hardware.

Please note, Revolve works great with streaming services, be it SoundCloud, Spotify, any internet radio, but if you want better sound, try FLAC, recordings good quality in different programs. The device is capable of a lot. In addition to music, do not forget that with iPad Pro or another tablet, Revolve will help pump up the sound in movies, but if you connect it with a cable to the Nintendo Switch, you will get a unique Zelda experience.

    conclusions

Pre-order for Bose SoundLink Revolve is already open, the cost is 14,990 rubles, on sale in Russia starting in June - the first owners will receive an excellent toy for the whole summer and the first months of autumn. Bose has come up with a wonderful “social” portable speaker with a great sound that just begs to go on the veranda, in the garden, on the street, thanks to the design it will not interfere with your suitcase when you go on vacation, there is nothing to cling to, the body is not afraid of impacts. Great sound in the hotel is guaranteed. Among the rough edges, I would like to note the strange behavior of the Bose Connect program with Revolve, but this happened at first with the QC35/QC30 headphones, then everything was fixed - now the program crashes in a number of cases on both iOS and Android. I would also like to determine the names written in Russian for an incoming call.

Otherwise, it’s a unique thing that can please the owner for many years; in terms of sound, Bose knows how to make long-lived things. Well, if after three years Revolve seems too heavy to carry around in a suitcase, then it can be screwed onto a tripod and assigned to a permanent place of residence in the country house or in the gym.
