ASIO4ALL – universal ASIO driver – Russian version. ASIO4ALL – universal audio driver for WDM Audio

In this article we will talk a little about the universal audio driver for WDM Audio ASIO4ALL. Some, mostly not new, as well as “default” (built-in) sound cards, sometimes used by musicians to record and play their musical compositions, often do not always behave as ideally as possible when working with various “music editing” software from the point of view of adaptation to the usual professional requirements software to “sound hardware”.

In fact, this driver does nothing “like that”, except, figuratively speaking, “brings closer, increases the number of points of contact” and the audio hardware - it ensures the exchange of the audio stream in full. ...In some cases, it includes “sleeping” capabilities. True, if only I would also minimize the delay in processing to the point of normality, for example, for example - there would be no price for it :-)...

As the developer advises, in order to achieve the best results in audio processing, you should turn off system sounds operating system(Windows startup and shutdown sounds do not count) that less predictable sounds “may block the sound device initialization process for ASIO4ALL”...

Setting up the ASIO4ALL driver

There are no universal recommendations when setting up the ASIO4ALL driver. Each case is individual. After the application recognizes the ASIO4ALL driver, an icon appears in the tray, which may look different depending on the mode. When playing sound:

– while the driver is stopped.

If the driver icon is not visible in the tray, it means that it is not currently in use. Sometimes changes to settings may take effect only after restarting the audio application. In all sound (music) editors, in the sound settings options there is a button, for example, “ » , with the help of which (in the same way as when clicking on the tray icon) the settings panel of this driver is called up.

1. List of found WDM audio devices.

Double status indicator. Next to the activity icon is a device status indicator:

– the device is successfully turned on.

– the device is currently inactive.

– the device is unavailable (may be due to its use in another application).

– the device is uncontrollable for some unknown reason.

2. setting the buffer size (in samples).

More value means more delay. If, when playing sound, signal dropouts are observed in the form of crackling sounds or “breaks,” this value should be increased.

3. button to restore default settings.

An option to “return” the settings to the original ones if, during the driver settings, the quality of its work has deteriorated.

4. button to enable advanced settings mode.

Includes additional options to enable fine adjustments drivers. When calling this mode, the following view appears:

Additional driver settings

5. Delay compensation.

This parameter should be touched mainly when working in a sequencer, when there is a delay when voicing MIDI commands with simultaneously played audio tracks.

6. Using a hardware buffer.

The ability to use a hardware buffer is usually only available in drivers like WavePCI. The main advantage of using hardware buffering is that it uses less core computing resources. Recommended starting values range from 128 to 256.

7. Number of kernel buffers.

If hardware buffering is not used, setting these values determines the number of output buffers. Each additional buffer increases the latency according to its size. With higher values both stability and latency increase. With low values the effect is reversed.

8. Conversion between 44.1 and 48 kHz.

ASIO4ALL has the ability to convert sample rates from 44.1 kHz to 48 kHz and back in real time. Conversion occurs automatically in cases where ASIO4ALL is opened in 44.1 KHz mode, and the WDM driver does not support this frequency.

9. Forcing the WDM driver to work in 16-bit mode.

This feature only works with drivers that have the ability to work with

streams with a bit depth higher than 16 Bits (and less than 24), but actually refuse this.

For example, such a driver is SigmaTel AC97.

Driver ASIO4ALL – alternative driver, which allows you to create music on your PC. But there are many more uses for it. This is an independent audio driver that is free for use in a wide range of programs and audio devices. Provided the device/software supports WDM.

He's the only one

ASIO4ALL stands alone because there are no other "good" audio drivers that are independent. There are many audio drivers that are better, but they are not universal, which is why this driver is so popular. ASIO4ALL driver works for everyone Windows versions, although the developers did not official support Windows 10 until 2016. There is no technical manual that says on what configurations and what hardware this program will work on. You just have to install the driver to see if it works.

Conclusion

If you have not worked with ASIO before, you may have problems installing it. Asio4ALL has its share of problems. It's not perfect, but it works on a huge range of software and audio devices because it's versatile, and that in itself is reason enough to deserve respect.

You can download the Asio4ALL driver in Russian for free from the link below

Installing the ASIO4ALL sound driver is quite simple and does not require much effort. All you need is to download the asio4all driver from the official asio4all website and install it. By the way, now when installing Fl Studio, this driver is already included in the kit, and after installing fl studio, the installation of the asio4all driver opens.

But before installing ASIO4ALL, check latest version drivers on the official website, since new version Compatibility errors and various bugs are fixed.

Why do you need to install this driver? Of course, you can use the standard sound driver. But there is a difference between them. Asio4all loads the sound card less than the standard one. It uses fewer processes and buffer dumps, which allows you to create larger projects without crackles and other noise. Crashes appear when your project becomes large and has a considerable number of plugins and sounds.

So feel free to install the asio4all driver

Installing the ASIO4ALL sound driver.

We run the installation file where the installation wizard will open. Click – Next.

After the license agreement window opens, check the box indicating that we accept the agreement and click Next.

Now the window shown in the figure below will open. There is no need to change anything here. Also click – Next.

In the next window you can specify the installation path. We don’t change it and click – Install.

This completes the installation of the asio4all driver.

Next lesson on

Let's look at another useful PC utility that will undoubtedly be useful to everyone who uses guitar software on their computer. For example, such programs work in conjunction with the universal audio driver Asio4all 2.9. So, what kind of driver is this?

ASIO (Audio Stream Input/Output) is a protocol created by Steinberg that is used in the hardware/software interface of your sound card driver. The program for Windows ASIO4ALL 2.9 is a universal audio driver that provides high accuracy and low latency levels when transmitting audio streams.

While Microsoft Direct Sound technology is under Windows control has become the most widely used for non-professional use, ASIO differs in that it gives sound engineers and musicians the ability to process sound using a program in real-time.

At the same time, it allows you to replace external audio processing equipment. Low latency is achieved due to the fact that the ASIO interface bypasses a large number of intermediate software levels, while it directly interacts with the equipment. Additionally, ASIO provides you with a hassle-free way to access multiple audio outputs and inputs.

The main advantage of this technology is the refusal to use Windows Audio (KMixer - the mixing core), and this in turn allows you to achieve very high communication speeds with audio devices. The unmixed data stream in the ASIO protocol, unlike KMixer, is essentially bit-identical, while ensuring high fidelity.

Typically, this audio interface is mainly used in Microsoft environment Windows, because other operating systems (such as Linux or Mac OS X) do not have similar mixing and latency issues. Vista removed KMixer and replaced it with a new Wave RT port driver. However, it cannot synchronize multiple audio devices.

This driver will allow you to use the integrated motherboard sound chip without having to resort to purchasing more expensive professional sound cards create quality music. Easy installation, no initial configuration required. It is distributed free of charge and is fully compatible with all installed audio codecs.

Features of ASIO4ALL 2.9

  • Speed. ASIO drivers can significantly reduce the CPU load and reduce buffer settings, more than the standard WDM Driver. If your audio interface has its own ASIO driver, then it is recommended to use it.
  • Several sound devices. You have the ability to select inputs and outputs from individual sound cards or audio devices because... this is not possible with standard ASIO drivers. This feature will allow you to use the USB input for a microphone and at the same time use the output of a regular sound card.
