When replacing the protective glass on a smartphone, few people do not worry about following the rules and perform re-gluing with improvised tools.

As a result: there are scratches on the phone, the coating does not apply evenly, becomes covered with bubbles, or simply does not adhere tightly.

Instructions: how to install protective glass on your phone

We have prepared a short instruction manual for those who want to install the glass themselves.

The article contains basic information, but to complete the picture we recommend watching the video with detailed description installation stages.

Removing old glass: what is important to remember

You must understand that the glass does not stick to the screen due to a special adhesive coating. The adhesion of the film to the smooth surface of the touchscreen occurs due to statics. An attempt to remove it by prying it with a fingernail or (much worse) with a knife will result in damage to the screen and body of the phone.

Even using a special suction cup can lead to unpleasant consequences. Remember, perform all actions smoothly. By pressing hard on the Velcro, you risk damaging the cables or tearing off the screen module. A vacuum is formed between the glass and the film, which will resist the adhesion of the coatings. But even if the suction cup adheres well to the film, there is a chance of damage to the sensor when removing the protective glass. Therefore, act consistently and carefully.

What to prepare for installing protective glass:

    mediator (or thin plastic card) - it’s better to take 2 pieces;

    silicone suction cup (if you already have reinstallation experience, you can do without Velcro);

    napkin or piece of lint-free cloth;

    glass cleaner containing alcohol (pure alcohol or perfume will also work);

    medical gloves (silicone or rubber).

    Once armed with these tools, the job will take no more than two minutes.

Brief description of the process

Before you begin, make sure your hands are free of dust or lint. It is impossible to see the smallest particles on your fingers, so it is better to play it safe and wear medical gloves. They are thin and fit snugly on the hand, so they will not interfere with work.

Next, install the suction cup on the area of the phone with damaged glass, where there are fewer fragments and cracks. Carefully apply the Velcro to the corner of the screen, and then press down slightly and glue it to the glass. Take the pick and pull the suction cup towards you, only gradually increase the force, otherwise the glass will come off along with the screen.

As soon as you feel the glass peeling off, deepen the pick.

When the glass around the perimeter peels off ~80%, feel free to pull the suction cup and tear off the old screen.

Gluing new glass

Before applying new coating, remove dust and fingerprints. A lint-free cloth is suitable for this: first moisten the screen with glass cleaning compound and degrease the surface using a prepared cloth.

    Take protective glass by the edges (put on gloves first).

    Carefully remove the adhesive protective surface on the film (keep the glass near the phone, otherwise airborne dust will stick while you transfer the film).

    Place the glass as close to the screen as possible (align it relative to the center, check that all holes for buttons, connectors and the camera pass through the film).

    Slowly lower the protective covering onto the screen, pressing and simultaneously smoothing from the center to the corners. Use a dry, lint-free cloth or thin plastic card for this.

    Remove the film applied for protection during transportation.

It is not always possible to glue glass to a phone without getting dust and lint. If you see that debris has gotten under the film, peel off the glass exactly to the place where there is dirt.

You can also use a compressor, a technical vacuum cleaner, or a can of compressed air to blow out dust particles.

If you don't have anything like this at hand, use tweezers.

As soon as you remove the dirt, glue the glass back.

Despite the fact that you don’t need to hire a specialist to install protective glass on your smartphone screen, when performing this work you need to remember some subtleties, without which it will not be successful.

Helpful advice: Correctly selected glass (not only in size, but also in characteristics) protects the smartphone screen from quite significant mechanical impacts. Moreover, the glass itself does not shatter when breaking, reducing the risk of injury for the phone owner. Also, the oleophobic properties of glass make it easier to use a smartphone (fingerprints are practically invisible on such glass).

How to stick protective glass:

1. Print out the packaging with protective glass. Please note that if the kit does not come with a special wet wipe for cleaning your smartphone screen, you will have to purchase it additionally before performing the following steps. It also helps to use a microfiber cloth to clean your phone screen.

Helpful advice: It is not necessary to buy a microfiber cloth in a store that sells smartphones and other electronics, since the prices for such goods are usually inflated there. Just go to any hardware store.

2. Before gluing the glass, you must thoroughly clean the smartphone screen from dirt, fingerprints, and dust. This should be done using a microfiber cloth and a special cloth soaked in alcohol.

3. Remove the film from the protective glass. Place the glass on the smartphone screen so that the location of the slits in the glass coincides with the position of the speaker, camera, and button.

4. Press the center of the glass and the force of mutual attraction between the molecules of the surfaces will do the rest for you. Glass installed!

Note: If, after installing the glass, you see a speck of dust or a hair accidentally caught between the protective glass and the smartphone screen, do not try to lift the edge of the glass to pull out the debris, since the chance of success of such an operation is low.

Having picked up a brand new, cutting-edge smartphone for the first time, the new owner of a convenient, functional communication device understands: the display is the most vulnerable area. But it is he who is the main center of communication between the device and the user. How to protect the display from mechanical damage? If we're talking about On a smartphone, for example Xperia, experts do not recommend gluing a film for the reason that the vast majority of models modern smartphones You can purchase special protective glass. Currently, many variations of this accessory are presented in abundance on the most advanced trading platforms.

As practice shows, no matter how reliable the standard smartphone display glass is, extra protection will not hurt it. Accidental impacts and falls, active use, carrying the device in a pocket or bag - all this will invariably lead to scuffs and cracks appearing on the glass.

Protective glass, the thickness of which varies from 0.2 to 0.3 mm, consists of five layers:
Oleophobic layer. Allows your finger to glide across the screen freely and smoothly. The layer effectively repels moisture. Fingerprints can be easily removed with an ordinary cloth.
Protective layer (hardness 9H). Gives glass resistance to mechanical stress (impacts, scratches).
Anti-blocking layer - prevents the screen from fading.
The so-called containment layer. Even if you somehow manage to break the screen, this layer will prevent it from falling into pieces.
Silicone base. Reliably fixes the protective glass on the screen.

The process of sticking such a protective glass on the smartphone screen is very simple, you just need to follow the recommendations specified in the instructions. Usually, the protective glass kit includes everything necessary to fix it on the smartphone screen:
cloth for pre-cleaning glass;
wet and dry wipes for degreasing and wiping;
adhesive strip designed to remove settled dust;
a couple of small adhesive strips to properly fix the glass on the device display.

The protective glass is glued to the smartphone very quickly. To do this, you just need to use all the materials at hand for their intended purpose, following the instructions exactly. If during the process of attaching the protective glass an air bubble has formed under it, you just need to gently push it with your finger, move it to the edge and remove it.

Protective film or glass

Protective film and protective glass are not the same thing! Glass is much denser than film, does not impair the clickability of the screen and color rendition, better protects the display when the phone falls from a height, and can improve image quality in bright sunlight thanks to the anti-reflective coating. 2 Thoroughly wipe the phone display with a damp cloth to remove greasy deposits, and then with a dry cloth, then use an adhesive film to go over the entire screen to completely remove dust.

3 Take the protective glass in your hands and determine its lower part, which will be glued to the phone’s display, and the upper part, on which you will press. The bottom one is marked with the number 1, and the top one with the number 2.

4 Place the protective glass and carefully peel off the bottom protective film (1),
