How to reduce the chance of display burn-in on iPhone X . How to reduce the chance of display burn-in on iPhone X Quickly switch between applications

Along with support for the CarPlay car service and new Siri features, it brought a number of special functions not specified in the accompanying documentation. For example, as we wrote yesterday, in new firmware Apple changed the animation that caused seasickness in some users, and another non-obvious innovation was the “lower white point” mode.

iOS 7.1's Accessibility Settings have a new "Lower White Point" option. It is designed to make the iPhone and iPad screen more comfortable for the eyes at any brightness level setting. It is especially useful to enable this function in the evening when working with mobile device under artificial lighting. This will reduce eye strain and fatigue.

How to lower the white point in iOS 7.1 and make the screen more comfortable for viewing:

Step 1: Open Settings on iPhone or iPad running iOS 7.1.

Step 2: Go to the Basic section.

Step 3: Go to the Accessibility menu.

Step 5: Enable White Point Lowering. Notice how the screen color temperature has changed.

You can reduce eye strain in iOS 10 using an overlay light filters. This trick works on all iOS devices: iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE and other models that support iOS 10.

Light filters are different from the feature introduced in iOS 9.

Task Night Shift- exclude blue radiation from the screen, which acts as a stimulant on the nervous system. As a result, the display turns orange-beige.

But this is not the best solution. There is something more interesting.

Make your screen blood red, you won't regret it

Light filter allows you to make the screen completely red. And this solution has many advantages.

Our eyes distinguish red color worse than others. An optical illusion occurs: a screen with a red light filter forces the eyes to perceive the picture in the same way as when using a reduced brightness level. This way, you can look at a red screen in a completely dark room without discomfort.

Scientists conducted a series of experiments on rodents, exposing them to light of different color spectrums: white, blue and red. Influenced blue light the animals became depressed. White light had no negative impact. Action red light not inferior to the complete darkness in which the experimental subjects felt comfortable.

The phenomenon of minimal exposure to red light on the retina of the eye is explained by the peculiarity ganglion cells, which practically do not react to it. The use of red lights on the streets is no coincidence: red light has a positive effect on a person’s well-being.

Breaking away from iPhone screen, you instantly adapt to the dark. This happens faster than in Night Shift mode or when you refuse to use a filter.

How to turn on the Light Filter

Function Light filters available on all iOS devices running iOS 10.

1 . Opening Settings -> General -> Accessibility.

2. Select an item Display adaptation -> Light filters.

3. Turn on the slider Light filter. A drop-down list will open.

4. We are looking for an item Hue. Check the box opposite, and drag the two sliders below to maximum.

The screen will turn rich red. In daylight it looks creepy. But in the absence of light, you will realize that it is much more pleasant and easier for you to look at such a screen!

P.S.: owners of Apple's newest tablet are in a better position. The iPad Pro 9.7" has a screen that automatically selects the optimal white balance depending on the lighting.

iPhone X received not only an advanced design, but also special functions that make using the smartphone much more convenient. 9to5Mac has compiled a selection of 15 tricks and tips for owners of Apple flagships.

Convenient access

iPhone X is smaller than iPhone 8 Plus. However, due to the large diagonal, reaching the upper corners of the screen can be problematic if you use the smartphone with one hand.

However, the top icons can be pulled up to a comfortable height. To do this you need:

Go to Settings => General => Universal access;
and allow Easy Access, which is turned off by default.

Now, you can pull the home or any other screen down and the top applications will be pulled to the center of the display.

When Easy Access is activated, Control Center or Notification Center can also be accessed from the middle of the screen. To do this, just first pull down on the bottom of the display, and then swipe down on the left or right edge of the screen.

Battery level

There are several ways to find out the battery percentage level. The quickest way is to pull the top right corner of the display and bring up Control Center.

Quickly switch between applications

To switch between applications, just pull the bottom tap of the screen up and take a short pause. The instructions say that the pause should be long, but in fact, to switch between applications, a tap is enough and in a split second.

Call latest application from the main screen

To call the last application that the user opened, just swipe right on the bottom edge of the screen. In a similar way, you can scroll through two recently opened applications and switch between them.

Users accustomed to a physical Home button can create a virtual button and place it anywhere convenient on the screen.

To do this you should:

go to Settings => General => Universal Access;
activate the Assistive Touch option.

select Animoji in iMessage;
call “Screen Recording” from Control Center and click on “Record”;
Click on the red indicator in the upper left corner of the display to end the video.

Animoji videos can be used as a sticker. To do this, simply drag the entry to the selected message in iMessage.

Watch videos in full screen mode

By default, when the iPhone X is held horizontally, the video does not reach the edges of the screen so as not to crop the picture. However, if the user is not embarrassed by the fact that part of the image will be blocked by the camera protrusion, you can call the full-screen viewing mode by double-tapping.

Decrease brightness

For a more comfortable using iPhone X in the dark, you can reduce the screen brightness and remove the sharpness of whites.

To do this you need:

go to Settings => General => Universal access => Display adaptation;
enable White point reduction;
set the slider to 100%;
call the Control Center;

After this, looking at the smartphone screen in a dark room will become much more comfortable. The display will become so dark that daylight it will be difficult to see anything on it.

You can change the white background color by going to Settings => General => Accessibility => Display Adaptation => Color Inversion, and turning on the “Smart Inversion” mode.

It's not a true dark mode, but it looks good in some apps.

Disable "Require Attention" for Face ID

Disabling this option will reduce the security of access, but will help unlock iPhone X if you are using sunglasses or other accessories.

Auto-brightness (or automatic adjustment of screen brightness) has appeared on smartphones and phones for a long time. There is such a function on the iPhone. It automatically selects the optimal screen brightness depending on the lighting in which the user is located. This allows you not only to provide maximum comfort when working with your iPhone, but also to significantly save battery power.

But, some users don't like how auto-brightness works on iPhone and prefer to disable this feature. Before updating to iOS 11, this did not cause any problems, but now most users do not know how to disable auto-brightness. If you also encounter a similar problem, then this material should help you.

The source of the problem was that the auto-brightness setting was moved in iOS 11. Earlier this function was in the “Display and Brightness” settings section. But, now here you can only adjust the brightness manually, set up automatic blocking and configure appearance text. And no mention of automatic brightness adjustment.

Fortunately, the auto-brightness setting was not completely removed from iOS 11. It was simply moved to another section. This was probably done so that users would use it less and the iPhone's battery would last longer.

There are two ways to access auto brightness settings in iOS 11, using search and manually. In the first case, you just need to click on search bar, which is located at the top of the “Settings” window, enter search query“Auto-Brightness” and select the second result (the one that leads to the “General – Accessibility – Adaptation” section. After this, you will see a settings page where you can turn Auto-Brightness on or off on your iPhone.

You can also find manual auto-brightness setting. To do this, open the Settings app and go to the Accessibility section.

Then you need to open the “Display Adaptation” section

After this, you will see a page with settings that relate to display adaptation. Here you can configure color inversion, color filters, lowering the white point, and turn auto-brightness on or off.

In general, these changes in the iOS 11 settings, of course, do not add ease of use to the iPhone, but they also do not lead to unsolvable problems. Once you remember the new location of the “Auto Brightness” setting, in the future you will be able to turn it on and off at any time without any problems.

Are you using your iPhone or iPad at its lowest brightness but the screen is still too bright? There is a way to reduce the brightness even further than the brightness slider allows. See how to do it.

If you often use your smartphone or tablet late in the evening or at night, then you, of course, set the screen brightness to the minimum so that it does not shine too much in front of your eyes. Unfortunately, not always minimum brightness The screen is sufficient for comfortable use of the device at night. However, there is a way to reduce the brightness further than the brightness slider allows.

You can use the zoom feature and filters to reduce brightness in iOS. However, this time we will show a different method in which we will use what is called lower the white point, making the screen even dimmer. This option is available on iOS 10, 11 and higher.

Even more brightness reduction on iPhone/iPad with iOS 10/11

To better dim the brightness, we'll use accessibility features, specifically the aforementioned dimming option. This will activate an additional brightness slider to reduce the intensity of bright colors. Combined with a traditional brightness slider, this makes the screen darker, less bright, and easier on the eyes when using the device at night.

To do this, go to the Settings app and then go to the General tab. Find and select the "Accessibility" section here. All accessibility options will appear. In the list, find the Screen Comfort tab.

Once you enter the screen, you will find the “Bottom White Point” field. This option should appear at the very bottom of the list. Activate it by moving the slider to the on position.

When this option is selected, a slider will appear below it, with which we can adjust the level of brightness reduction for bright colors. The higher the color reduction level, the darker the screen we get.

Remember that you can combine this option with the regular brightness slider. If you move the brightness slider down to 100% and the screen is still not dark enough, you can darken it using the regular brightness slider. The combination of both functions - white point reduction and normal brightness - allows you to get very dark screen, which is useful, for example, when using the device in bed before going to bed.

Set a shortcut to quickly toggle dimming function

If you intend to use this option frequently, it's worth installing a shortcut that allows you to quickly turn white point reduction on and off. iOS allows you to assign this setting to the Home button 3 times. As a result, you won't have to go to the accessibility option every time to enable or disable the white reduction option.

To do this, go back to the main accessibility settings (Settings > General > Accessibility) and go to the Abbreviation Feature Accessibility tab.

Here you can choose which accessibility option you use most often and assign a keyboard shortcut to it. Select the "Brightness Low Point" function here.

From now on, when you press the Home button three times in a row, the option to lower the white value will toggle. You can quickly turn this setting on or off.
