What Samsung Pay is and on which devices you can install the application will be discussed today in this article. The ability to access payment systems is a common option that phone manufacturers offer their customers. Samsung is a Korean company that is in particular demand among Russian buyers, since the phones of this brand are maximally adapted for our country.

So, let's take a closer look at how to set up and use the application's services, where to download it and what gadgets support this service. Is it possible to disable Samsung Pay and how to do it.

Not long ago, a new payment system, Samsung Pay, was launched in Russia. A unique application made it possible to pay various bills from a regular phone. In less than a year, over a million users connected to the service. Thanks to the application, you no longer need to carry plastic cards from banks that work with Pay. You just need to touch your mobile phone to the terminal and the operation will be carried out.

Actually, new system is an analogue of a plastic card, but more modified and convenient. Since we are talking about contactless banking operations, many users ask the question: do you need the Internet to make payments? The answer is negative, since the program stores a copy of the personal card in the phone and has a built-in special magnetic wave emitter. It is enough to bring the gadget to the terminal so that it can read the card data. The only drawback of the application is the inability to withdraw money from an ATM.

Which Samsung devices support the application?

The main difficulty that limits the use of the application is that some phone models do not have magnetic cards, as a result of which the system does not start or displays a connection error. Below you will find which phones support Samsung Pay, and on which gadgets you can download and install the application. It's about about the following models:

Phone brand Samsung Model
Galaxy S S9, S9+, S8, S8+, S7 Edge, S7,S6 Edge+,S6, S6 Edge
Galaxy Note Note 8, Note 5
Galaxy A A8, A8+, A7 2017, A5 2017, A3 2017, A7 2016, A5 2016
Galaxy J J7 2017, J5 2017
Gear Gear S3 Classic, Gear s2, Gear Sport

Before attempting to connect the system to specific phone, it’s worth checking whether the model is adapted for Samsung Pay or not. Another significant point is the fact that the platform can only be combined with factory firmware. “Gray” models (Eurotest) are not suitable for this purpose and most likely will not work correctly. You will be able to download and install the application, but when you try to make a transaction, the message “connection error” or “inappropriate SIM card” will appear on the screen.

Which Russian banks support Samsung Pay. List of partners

The list of banks with which the Pay system cooperates today includes about 49 organizations. Not all institutions are exclusively banking. Some provide payment transfer services as additional services, for example, Yandex Money or Megafon, the Euroset “Corn” card. The largest and most well-known banks support Visa and MasterCard payment systems. These banks include:

  • Sberbank of the Russian Federation;
  • Rosselkhozbank;
  • Tinkoff Bank;
  • Gazprombank;
  • Binbank;
  • Home Credit Bank;
  • Raiffeisen Bank;
  • Promsvyazbank;
  • Bank opening.

The list of Russian banks cooperating with the new payment system does not end there, and anyone can familiarize themselves with this information in detail on the Samsung website. Unfortunately, some types of cards do not work in Crimea, since not all Russian banks are present there.

What cards does the system work with?

Initially, the system worked only with one type of plastic card – MasterCard. Later, as users connected, support for Visa and MIR cards was added.

To obtain more accurate information, company representatives recommend that users from the Russian Federation go to the manufacturer’s website and ask all the necessary questions online.

Where to download, how to connect. What to do if an error occurs during connection?

Upon learning of the existence new opportunity, citizens with a smartphone suitable model they begin to wonder how to install Samsung Pay and where to download the application. First, let's look at the second question. The application can be downloaded from Play Store, which is available on every smartphone. All you have to do is find the service, download and install. You can do this for free.

Registering a SIM card in the system will require certain actions on the part of the user, namely:

  1. Make sure your phone has maximum protection against possible hacking or in case the device is lost. If it doesn't exist, it needs to be installed. For this purpose, the standard ones are suitable: a scanner-verification or a password, which will also serve as a PIN code. You will need to remember it, since you will have to use it for every payment transaction.
  2. Download the application.
  3. Confirm attaching the card and scan it with the device’s camera. Enter all the necessary information about the owner of the plastic manually.
  4. Pass banking testing using SMS, where it will be enclosed special code.
  5. The card has now been added and can be used.

This is the procedure Samsung connections Pay can be considered complete, and the payment system is ready for use.

It is important to note that if the system does not activate within 30 minutes, the phone owner can contact a support representative and find out the reason for the delay. Usually the service is activated immediately. Sometimes a message appears that it is temporarily impossible to connect to Samsung Pay, please try again later. This is due to technical violations, therefore, you must act exactly as indicated.

How to use Samsung Pay. How does the payment process work?

Having figured out how to set up Samsung Pay, you can start using it, that is, start paying for purchases. The principle of operation of the application is not much different from the process of using standard bank plastic. In general, it is enough to perform sequential manipulations:

  • Turn on your smartphone and the Pay app.
  • Place the screen on the terminal.
  • Place your finger on the fingerprint sensor.
  • Wait for confirmation.

What to do if you forgot your Samsung Pay password

A situation where it is necessary to recover a password from a payment system can only arise if the user initially selects one identification method - introduction digital code. The method is determined immediately before linking the card to the system.

Unfortunately, people often forget the set PIN code, and in this case it becomes temporarily impossible to connect to Samsung Pay and use the system to make purchases. If a problem occurs, customers contact support, but it is not possible to find out the password, since such a function is not available for security reasons. The issue can be resolved in two ways:

  1. Reset all settings and data through the application manager in the main menu item. To do this, just select the “Clear data” item.
  2. Register in the payment system again, that is, re-enter all information about yourself and bank cards.

Once again, it is worth noting that it will not be possible to restore the PIN code, so when registering in the system it is better to choose different ways identification.

Disabling the service if necessary

Sometimes the owner of a smartphone realizes that this payment system is not suitable for him and contacts the call center with a question - how to disable Samsung Pay?

You won't be able to disable the service without deleting the entire application from your phone. At the same time, the client can choose the option to disable alerts that come to the account. To do this, you will need to go to settings and select the appropriate service. To completely remove it, you must first erase bank card data in the application, and then remove the service itself.

Samsung has again released new versions of the A3 and A5 models - this is already becoming an annual event.

With the help of these devices, the company indicates its true intentions - to consolidate its position in the mid-price segment, presenting users with smartphones with good set useful functions.

Like any other smartphone, these two have several hidden functions worthy of your attention. Here are some of the most successful ones, in our opinion:

Add/Disable Game Launcher and Game Tools

Every mobile gamer knows what Game Launcher and Game Tools are for. These apps allow you to turn off notifications while you're playing, and they can also be used to take a screenshot of the game or even make a video. You can activate or deactivate them in just a couple of clicks.

All you need to do is go to settings, find Additional Features and go to the Games menu. Here you will find the options you need.

Game Launcher is very easy to enable or disable

Take photos with ease

On most smartphones, you can take photos by pressing the volume keys. Some people prefer a button on the screen. Samsung has tried to take into account everyone's personal preferences.

You can add a virtual key for your camera, this key can be placed anywhere on the screen when the viewfinder is on. Press this button and the photo is ready.

To enable access to this feature, simply go to the Camera app and from there to Settings (the gear in the top right corner of the screen). Scroll down the menu and find the Floating Camera Button feature. Activate it and the button will appear in the Camera app.

Reminder: You can launch the camera double click button "Camera", you do not have to look for the camera icon on the desktop.

The "floating" camera button can be activated in the settings

Change the appearance of the interface

Some people (including myself) find the TouchWiz interface to be extremely ugly, which is not the case with bare Android. So now you know that appearance The interface can be changed using different themes. And while this won't solve all your problems, it will at least make your phone more enjoyable to use. You can also download wallpapers and icon packs.

The main disadvantage is the price. Are you ready to spend 120 rubles on a set of icons?

Luckily, some themes/wallpapers/icons are available for free, and some of them look really good. You will find them in the settings under Wallpapers and themes. You can also access this section by tapping on the background of your screen for a few seconds, then tap on the Wallpapers & Themes button that appears in the lower left corner of the display.

Use "protected" files

And while many people vociferously claim that they have nothing to hide, what can be found on their phone or anywhere else, a feature that allows you to hide some things is useful.

When you hand your phone to your mom, you might not want her to see your party photos. Or maybe you don't want your girlfriend to see pictures of you dancing with other girls. Even if you haven't done anything wrong, making excuses is always unpleasant.

To avoid such hassles, Samsung has added a file protection option, first introduced on the Note 7. You can put anything you want to keep secret in a specific folder, and you can restrict access to that folder using a password or fingerprint.

The only condition for using this feature is that you have to use a Samsung code. Just go to the Applications menu, then Samsung Applications and open Secure File. The rest is up to you.

Place your sensitive information in a secure folder

Receive notification reminders

Has this ever happened: you receive a message on WhatsApp during an important meeting, and after it ends, half an hour later, you completely forget to read the message?

Samsung has thought through everything carefully and introduced a notification reminder feature: if you forget to read a notification, the phone will remind you about it.

Of course, you can choose the types of notifications, and you can also choose which application can send you reminders.

Go to the Access menu in Settings, and then to the Notification Reminders section. Here you will also find other interesting functions - for example, a “magnifying glass”.

This is a very useful feature for those who forget.

Activate "simplified" mode

While power users will definitely appreciate the customizable welcome screen, some of us gravitate toward simpler menus and larger fonts.

You can activate this feature in settings. But be careful - the icons will grow to huge sizes, even the notification menu will be changed!

To activate this mode, go to Settings and then select the Simple Mode feature and activate it.

Simple mode lives up to its name

Some tricks that are already available on other Samsung smartphones can also be used on the 2017 A3/A5 models.

Send an SOS signal

You can send an SOS if you find yourself in trouble: head to Settings>Advanced>SOS, once the option is activated you can add a recipient. Now all you need to do to send an SOS signal is to press the power key three times.

Split screen function

The A5 has a split screen feature. To get to it, tap on the multitasking symbol, but remember that not all apps are compatible with this mode. But Google applications (Gmail, Play Store, etc.) have no problems with this mode.

Disable Upday

Samsung has decided to equip its devices with its own information system called Upday. New Galaxy The A3 and A5 are no exception to the rule, so all you have to do to access the Upday widget is swipe right.

Don't panic in advance - if you're more used to Google Now or you just want to remove an unnecessary widget from your home screen, Upday can be disabled.

To do this, you need to press and hold on the screen for a couple of seconds. At the bottom you will see three keys (Wallpaper, Widgets and Arrangement). Scroll right to access the screen located to the left of the center. You can then turn it off with the click of a button.

Pinning applications

In some cases, it may be convenient to lock the screen in one specific application. Notifications from all other apps will be blocked and you won't be able to open other apps, so your private life won't be exposed to the public.

Then press the multitasking key to see the list running applications. At the top right of the most recent application you will find a “pin”. Click on it and the screen in this application will be locked.

The picture on the left shows how to deactivate Upday; on the right - how to block the application screen from receiving notifications

The other day (namely September 29), a new modern payment system began operating in Russia Samsung system Pay, whose main focus is working with mobile phones and smartphones. In Russian it sounds like Samsung Pay and, as you probably already guessed, its author and developer is the South Korean company Samsung. Today, the user base of the service has already exceeded 1 million people!
What is her “trick”? In simple words, the peculiarity of this function is that thanks to it you can not carry your bank card (debit or credit card) with you, but simply bring your mobile phone to the terminal and pay with it. Now your phone is your electronic wallet. Simple, fast, convenient!

The contactless payment technology used by the mobile payment service is simple in principle, although ten years ago it could have been considered fantastic. Samsung Pay works as follows. First, you use your phone and a special application to make a “cast” of your bank card and store it on your phone. When you need to pay in a store, cafe, restaurant or other place, just bring your Samsung smartphone to the terminal. Thanks to the magnetic emitter built into the phone, which operates at the same frequency as the credit card, the payment terminal will actually see it and carry out the transaction in the same way as if you had inserted the credit card into it.

From the above, I think you have already understood that the Samsung Pay system does not work with all phone models, but only with those that have a magnetic emitter.

What phones does Samsung Pay work on?

Currently, the following models can work with this option:
— Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F)
— Samsung Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G935F)
— Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ (SM-G928F)
— Samsung Galaxy Note5 (SM-N920C)
— Samsung Galaxy A7 2016 (SM-A710F)
— Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 (SM-A510F)
In the future, the model range will of course develop.

On which terminals can I use Samsung Pay?

The payment system works with any terminal that supports NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, which is in many ways similar to BlueTooth, only the connection time is much faster (less than a second).
In addition, thanks to Samsung’s own MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) technology, the service can also work with payment terminals that accept bank cards with contact chip or magnetic stripe.

What cards are supported?!

A significant limitation in the work and development of technology are several more restrictions.
First, Samsung Pay currently only works with MacterCard cards. The service is not friendly with Visa cards, although the developers promise to add Visa support in the future.
Currently, the list of banks that work with Samsung Pay is small:

JSC "ALFA-BANK" VTB 24 (PJSC) PJSC "MTS-Bank" JSC "Raiffeisen Bank" JSC "Russian Standard Bank" LLC "Yandex"

But in the future, as the service develops, the number of partner banks should increase.

How safe is all this?!

I think you don’t need to explain simple truths - everything related to money, big money, is also of interest to criminal structures. And I think it’s no secret that they will also try to hack this payment service in order to steal funds from the user’s account. Currently, the following tools are used to ensure security:
Firstly, card data is not transmitted directly. Tokenization is used for this. That is, for each operation a special code is generated - a token. It is transmitted during the transaction. Even if someone can intercept the data transmission, it will not give him anything.
Secondly, each device has a built-in protection system Samsung Knox, which additionally protects the device from hacking attempts and virus attacks. Card data is stored in a system-encrypted container, which is protected and separated from the operating system.
Thirdly, even if an attacker takes possession of your smartphone, he will not be able to use Samsung Pay. the fact is that to carry out the transaction you must also give verification with your fingerprint, for which the built-in fingerprint scanner is used.
As you can see, the protection is organized at a decent level and there is no reason not to trust it yet.

How to use Samsung Pay

To take advantage of all the benefits of the latest mobile payment system you need to install it first Samsung app Pay to your smartphone. To do this we open Google Play Store and using search we find the application. Alternatively, you can follow this link.

Click on the “Install” button and wait for the process to complete.

Now you need to take a photo of your bank card using the main camera of your phone:

After this, data verification will start:

If the verification was successful, you will receive an SMS with a confirmation code, which must also be entered in the application window:

After this, you will receive a message stating that the card was successfully added.

Now it will appear in the card database:

This way you can add all your bank cards to the database and no longer carry them with you.
Now you can go to the store!

How to use a virtual card in a store?!
So, you are standing near the payment counter in a supermarket or cafe. How to pay for a purchase or service via Samsung Pay?!
First you need to swipe up, that is, press your finger at the very bottom of the screen and pull it up:

We enter the last 4 digits from the card, complete the transaction and receive a receipt. The Samsung Pay payment is completed successfully and you can put your phone in your pocket!
If you still have questions, watch the video:

P.S.: As a conclusion, I want to say that we should now expect the arrival of another similar system in Russia - Apple Pay from its main competitor - Apple. Also, with the advent of Android 6.0 to the masses, we can expect the arrival of a third similar mobile payment system - Android Pay. It’s hard to say whether superiority in terms of timing will give Samsung devices any advantages. Time will tell.

Not every user has an idea of all the useful functions of their smartphone. Samsung Galaxy. The problem is that many features are hidden deep in the gadget’s settings. Today we will talk about eight hidden possibilities smartphone running latest version OS Android 5.0 Lollipop, which can be found in the endless list of application settings in the menu.

On most Android-devices, you can take a screenshot by simultaneously pressing the Volume Down button and the Power button.

There are two types of fingerprint unlocking on flagships Samsung smartphones. Galaxy S5 Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge use the older, less accurate swipe sensor: the user swipes down the display to the Home button. The new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have a built-in fingerprint sensor that works on the principle TouchID V iPhone: The user presses his finger on the “Home” button.

In addition to this, your fingerprint(s) can be used to login Samsung accounts, other websites, and to confirm your PayPal purchases.

The GS3, GS4 and Galaxy Note 3 gadgets do not have a fingerprint scanner.

  1. Using a smartphone with gloves

  1. Find your phone

Users of GS3, GS4, Galaxy Note or Note II gadgets can unlock their devices simply by looking at the screen. The front camera recognizes the user's face and the gadget unlocks.

It's not the safest way to protect your phone, as the camera can easily be fooled by taking a photo, but when it works, it looks really cool.

Activating the function:

  • GS3: Settings > Lock screen > Screen lock > Face unlock
  • GS4: Settings > My device > Lock screen > Screen lock > Face unlock
  • Galaxy Note: Settings > Security > Screen lock > Face unlock.

GS5, GS6 / GS6 Edge, Note 4 and Note Edge gadgets are unlocked in the traditional way for all Android devices.

First introduced on the Galaxy S3, Smart Stay uses front camera to determine when to dim the brightness and turn off the display. The screen will remain active as long as the camera captures your face looking at the device's display.

  • GS3, GS5, Galaxy Note 4/Note Edge, GS6/GS6 Edge: Settings > Display > Smart stay
